The u7 Warriors wrapped up the 'season' with a home game against Wakefield Owls. The Warriors only had 5 boys available with a couple carrying injuries and a bout of illness.. it was going to need a monumental effort to compete for the 40 minutes. The Warriors started quickly and could have been 3 or 4 up after the quarter with Teddy L playing with incredible intensity to give an advantage to Warriors. The second quarter was very different as Wakefield came fighting back and Methely lost the advantage completely. Henry K came to the rescue with a fine penalty save as the Warriors were hanging on.The 3rd Quarter changed again and it was Methley who ran riot with George finding a sublime range of passing to set Teddy G and Teddy L away for Methely to take advantage back in the game. The last quarter was about hanging on as Isaac continued his fine form in goal, and the boys tackled and competed relentlessly. The last 90 seconds were carnage as Methley considerable advantage (given the time left) was wiped out but with the last kick of the game Teddy L stepped up once againCaptain: Teddy LParents/opposition player: Teddy LCoach player: Henry KGoals: Teddy L ... U7 Titans Match Reportvs Wakefield AthleticThe Titans faced a tough challenge this morning against a very strong Wakefield Athletic side, but they rose to the occasion brilliantly. Unfazed by their opponents’ reputation, the boys set the tone early with aggressive tackling and an energetic high press.Sonny opened the scoring after winning the ball high up the pitch, finishing confidently to put the Titans ahead. Moments later, he stunned everyone with a thunderbolt from the halfway line, piling the pressure onto the opposition and giving the Titans real momentum. At the back, Tobias was a rock—reading the game superbly and clearing everything that came his way. Harry worked tirelessly in midfield, relentless in his challenges and extremely unlucky to see a fantastic effort crash off the post.Driving runs from Oscar and Riley kept the Titans pushing forward and creating dangerous opportunities. Wakefield responded with threats of their own, and the lads defended doggedly throughout what became a hard-fought and competitive contest. In goal, Corey was sharp and composed, pulling off several excellent saves when called upon. His distribution was equally impressive, helping the team build attacks from the back.Awards • 🏆Parents’ Player: Corey – for his outstanding saves and calm presence in goal. • 🏆Coaches’ Player: Sonny⚽️⚽️ – he used his size, strength, and determination to dominate the opposition, who struggled to find an answer for him all game. ... The Raiders headed to Castleford Academy for a home game this morning against LS27 and came away with a 2-1 win. Ruby - Today was the day Ruby showed not on herself but the team and opposition how far she has come. A well-deserved Cosches award. Ruby supported the 1st goal assist and really frustrated the opposition with some phenomenal saves. Scarlotte - Fantastic both in terms of tacking and luch needed long kicks and now has an engine, which means she can play the full 60! Tulia - The centre of our defence with some good tackles and important interceptions.Holly H - Holly is becoming a solid and dependable defender with progress shown after only starting football this season. She has come on so much!Daisy - Daisy had to play 2 positions today. CDM in the 1st half, then defence in the 2nd. Strong in the tackle and the best long passer in the team.Lily H & Bethany - These 2 players were absolutely phenomenal today. Our centre mid field duo that are none stop running for 60 minutes! They have developed such a good partnership, and either of them could have easily won player of the match today.Reeva - Our little pocket rocket. The smallest on the team, but plays like she is the biggest. Did a great job up front and unlucky not to get a goal today. Lily C - Again showed her pace and finishing even when the opposition tried to double team her. Scored a good goal in the 1st half and bagged the winner 30 seconds from the end. Theia - Flying up and down the wing in the 2nd half. Some good clearances made and great pace shown. Holly C - Came on at half time and was a nightmare for the opposition with both her speed to get forward and really strong tackles! Sienna - Played the 2nd half today. Some important interceptions and when she connects with the clearances, she gets great distance.Parents player - Lily COppostion player - BethanyCoaches player - Ruby ... See MoreSee Less

The u10 Panthers were thrilled to get the ‘the game is on’ message this morning. We headed to Battyeford for an exciting fixture against the Belles Blues. It was a fiery start from the Panthers who pressed and attacked every chance and looked so menacing. The game ebbed and flowed with both teams enjoying spells of possession and lots of chances. The team spirit that seems to be growing and growing in our Panthers shone through again in quarter 4. As they came back on to the pitch muddy, talking tactics and roaring each other on, we knew we were on for a nail biter. They didn’t disappoint! 🌟 Annie won Coaches’ PlayerMastering the art of passing through the lines she created lots of the attacking play. Tenacious pressing on the keeper paid off with an assist for our first goal. 🌟 Matilda won Parents’ PlayerRising to the role of captain she showed great powers of recovery, making important clearances and sweeping up any danger. 🌟 Alice won Opposition’s Player Kept trying to drive the ball forward and kept energy levels high despite the heavy pitch. Shout outs to Penny and Macey for strong performances in goal in difficult conditions and Olivia for that oh so close power strike! And to Aurora who kept her eye on the prize with shooting prowess and scored an impressive hatrick ⚽️⚽️⚽️Another fabulous morning. Absolutely great stuff girls, keep up this hard work but maybe not the muddy knee slides. Good job the water is back on in Methley, we have some washing to do! ❤️🖤❤️ ... See MoreSee Less

A great run out this morning for Thunder playing Pontefract Wildcats at Aspire. The girls played some great football this morning, showing some great passing and skills. Parent’s Player - Polly 🏆❤️⚽️Polly was epic from the first kick, showing us why she is a formidable defender. She seemed at home today making great tackles, as well as taking the ball and pushing forwards into the midfield. She had some perfectly placed passes as well. Coach’s Player - Mia 🏆❤️⚽️Mia had a great game, getting into great space and playing a key role in attack. She gave her all, throwing herself into tackles and chasing down the ball. She had some great runs and took some lovely corners. #upthethunder ... See MoreSee Less

No words at all, why would you do this? This is vandalism again on purpose fields. We pay over a thousand pound each month on pitch maintenance at our various sites, why does some idiot think this is a good idea.If it was you, please get in touch so we can discuss why you have done this. Why you think spoiling a football pitch in our village is a great idea. You obviously have no thought or knowledge about what goes in to our pitches, maybe you could use your boredom to help me making our pitches look better, learn new skills and give a little back to the community in which you currently are causing problems. Also dog walkers keep your dogs off our pitches, use the perimeter of Church Lane if you really need to but there are enough places in Methley to take your dogs to a toilet please don’t use a child’s football pitch !! I know most dog walkers that use the site and they are very respectful but obviously there’s some lazy ones out there. Keir Mather MP and James Lewis what can we do to sort out this frequent vandalism on our pitches and the dog fouling issues we have week in - week out. ... See MoreSee Less

A lovely gesture from the U10 Panthers team who switched up their Secret Santa plans to donate gifts to the Leeds Children’s Charity Christmas Gift Appeal. The Appeal aims to bring joy to children across Leeds who might otherwise go without a present this festive season. They collect gifts from individuals, families, community groups and corporate partners, and distribute them through schools, local charities, community groups and social services. The girls chose a fantastic range of fun things that we hope will bring a little joy this Christmas. MATCH REPORT - 30-11-2015Methley U11s V Monk Fryston. Today the boys travelled to Monk Fryston today. The boys played well today, showing perseverance throughout. They had a number of chances at the opposition goal, unfortunately just coming up short. It was good to see some good team work between them allowing us to get to get a goal, it went from Deacon to Faeley to Toby to Bobby. The opposition was a solid team with some good pace allowing them to get up the field quickly, allowing them to get a few goals. However, Henry did his up most to save as many goal as he could. - well done 👏 We did go on to get another goal, Bobby took a corner and Toby headed it in.Methley played them a few weeks ago in cup game and knew they was a tough team to face, however the boys took this knowledge along with training and played amazingly against them. Message from coach: Im so proud of the boys today! We knew we would be in for challenge and we stepped up and gave it a really good go! The u7 Warriors played a local Derby against Normanton and made the short trip at midday for a later KO.The boys arrived full of energy and made a rip roaring start and Teddy L, back from illness, made a cool finish in the opening exchanges and Teddy G extended the advantage with some cool finishes before Henry S got in on the action as well as the first quarter ended with Warriors flying. The focus now was on practising our passing and trying new positions which resulted in Normanton showing some fighting spirit and coming back into he game. Teddy G and Henry S started to pick passes and spread the ball and Reggie was energetic throughout as he was more advanced. Then a crazy five minute spell at the end of the half produced a mesmerising spell of Goalkeeping from Isaac as he dived this was, that way and stopped a flurry of shots with some brilliant saves.Just after half time.. George picked up the ball and drove aggressively at the goal to the dismay of spectators and coaches (it was the wrong goal), in what was like a scene from Forest Gump, George quickly came to a stop just in time... Isaac sniffing a goal scoring opportunity continued the run... cue spectators and coaches once again... luckily both stopped before a calamitous own goal! Very funny moment though and a brilliant reminder of the joy of u7 football! The heavy rotation of positions carried on and Warriors were working hard and finding some lovely passing. George built into the game and started his marauding runs down the left and was delivering some lovely crosses... one of which resulted in Reggie hitting a screamer. George then got in on the act with a trademark left footer from outside the area.Credit to Normanton who never stopped and came close numerous times and finally got what they deserved as the game came to an end.Opposition player: GeorgeParents player: IsaacGoals: Teddy G, Henry S, Teddy L, Reggie, George ... 🔴 Methley Ladies Reds Match ReportA brilliant 4–1 win for the Reds today, and what a team performance it was! The passing was sharp, the movement was class, and even when the opposition pulled a goal back, we stayed calm, kept the ball, and took control again. 👏There were loads of great performances across the pitch, but there could only be one Player of the Match…🌟 Emma!Bagging her first ever goal, then coolly adding a second, Emma was unbelievable today. Blackhawks had a difficult looking draw in the cup as they travelled to Calverley who sit 2 divisions above them.Blackhawks had an eventful morning with 2 players dropping out last minute and 2 more running late which meant starting the game with fewer players and a disjointed preparation.Despite the adversity the players started strong as always and took part in an even opening as both teams battled hard to try and force an opening. The game was back and forth as Blackhawks held their own. Edie was (as always) in the right psoition to stop attacks and Isla was her usual energetic self as she was at the centre of everything that happened in the game.Eliza and Alex were relentless in the early exchanges and Nola was making some timely interventions and passing well as usual. As the game approached half time it was still extremely close but the Blackhawks were having to work very hard to stay in the game.Evie was playing a blinder as she tackled hard and made some fantastic runs. The game was in thw balance at half time and then a slight mishap in the blackhawks defence meant they had a tough task for the remainder of the game..They can fighting back as Eliza, on another menacing run was fouled on the edge of the box and Nola struck a free kick that rebounded to Eliza to smash in the top corner. The game was back on as we entered the final quarter... the girls were tired as they ran hard on a boggy pitch with no subs and gaps began to show.. Calverley exploited the gaps to finish the game strongly.A top effort from the girls in difficult circumstances.Captain: EdieParents player: EvieOpposition player: ElizaGoals: ElizaThe girls were tired, wet and cold but still in great spirits! Match Report: Horsforth SM vs Methley – U15 Girls (Away)Final Score: 2–4After a four-week break from competitive football, it took Methley around five minutes to settle into the game. Once they found their rhythm, the goals began to flow. The opener came from Esmae, who reacted quickest in the box to tap home and put Methley ahead.Soon after, a superb delivery from Pippa caused problems for the HSM defence, allowing Emily P to meet the cross and guide in Methley’s second, giving the visitors a deserved 0–2 lead.Horsforth SM responded, earning a penalty following a late tackle and converting to bring the score to 1–2. They nearly equalised moments later from a well-struck free kick just outside the area, but Belle produced a stunning save—stretching at full length to keep Methley ahead at the break. The second half saw both teams make changes, but it was Methley who adapted quickest. Ailie broke through on goal and powered her shot into the back of the net to restore the two-goal cushion.Horsforth SM continued to fight and were rewarded with a strong run through the middle and a well-placed finish to narrow the gap to 2–3. However, Methley responded instantly from the restart with slick build-up play ending in Belle getting on the scoresheet to secure the 2–4 victory.A solid team performance, great resilience, and some standout moments at both ends of the pitch ensured Methley returned home with all three points. ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️♥️🖤 ...
