MATCH REPORT - 30-11-2015Methley U11s V Monk Fryston. Today the boys travelled to Monk Fryston today. The boys played well today, showing perseverance throughout. They had a number of chances at the opposition goal, unfortunately just coming up short. It was good to see some good team work between them allowing us to get to get a goal, it went from Deacon to Faeley to Toby to Bobby. The opposition was a solid team with some good pace allowing them to get up the field quickly, allowing them to get a few goals. However, Henry did his up most to save as many goal as he could. - well done 👏 We did go on to get another goal, Bobby took a corner and Toby headed it in.Methley played them a few weeks ago in cup game and knew they was a tough team to face, however the boys took this knowledge along with training and played amazingly against them. Message from coach: Im so proud of the boys today! We knew we would be in for challenge and we stepped up and gave it a really good go! Every single player thank you and well done 👏 Goals ⚽️ Bobby & toby Assists 🎯 Toby & Bobby ... See MoreSee Less

The u7 Warriors played a local Derby against Normanton and made the short trip at midday for a later KO.The boys arrived full of energy and made a rip roaring start and Teddy L, back from illness, made a cool finish in the opening exchanges and Teddy G extended the advantage with some cool finishes before Henry S got in on the action as well as the first quarter ended with Warriors flying. The focus now was on practising our passing and trying new positions which resulted in Normanton showing some fighting spirit and coming back into he game. Teddy G and Henry S started to pick passes and spread the ball and Reggie was energetic throughout as he was more advanced. Then a crazy five minute spell at the end of the half produced a mesmerising spell of Goalkeeping from Isaac as he dived this was, that way and stopped a flurry of shots with some brilliant saves.Just after half time.. George picked up the ball and drove aggressively at the goal to the dismay of spectators and coaches (it was the wrong goal), in what was like a scene from Forest Gump, George quickly came to a stop just in time... Isaac sniffing a goal scoring opportunity continued the run... cue spectators and coaches once again... luckily both stopped before a calamitous own goal! Very funny moment though and a brilliant reminder of the joy of u7 football! The heavy rotation of positions carried on and Warriors were working hard and finding some lovely passing. George built into the game and started his marauding runs down the left and was delivering some lovely crosses... one of which resulted in Reggie hitting a screamer. George then got in on the act with a trademark left footer from outside the area.Credit to Normanton who never stopped and came close numerous times and finally got what they deserved as the game came to an end.Opposition player: GeorgeParents player: IsaacGoals: Teddy G, Henry S, Teddy L, Reggie, George ... 🔴 Methley Ladies Reds Match ReportA brilliant 4–1 win for the Reds today, and what a team performance it was! The passing was sharp, the movement was class, and even when the opposition pulled a goal back, we stayed calm, kept the ball, and took control again. 👏There were loads of great performances across the pitch, but there could only be one Player of the Match…🌟 Emma!Bagging her first ever goal, then coolly adding a second, Emma was unbelievable today. She battled from start to finish, her touch was brilliant, and she fully deserved every bit of that award. What a day for her! 🙌⚽️⚽️⭐️ Opposition Player: LauraGoals:⚽️ Jem⚽️⚽️ Emma ⚽️ Debs ... Blackhawks had a difficult looking draw in the cup as they travelled to Calverley who sit 2 divisions above them.Blackhawks had an eventful morning with 2 players dropping out last minute and 2 more running late which meant starting the game with fewer players and a disjointed preparation.Despite the adversity the players started strong as always and took part in an even opening as both teams battled hard to try and force an opening. The game was back and forth as Blackhawks held their own. Edie was (as always) in the right psoition to stop attacks and Isla was her usual energetic self as she was at the centre of everything that happened in the game.Eliza and Alex were relentless in the early exchanges and Nola was making some timely interventions and passing well as usual. As the game approached half time it was still extremely close but the Blackhawks were having to work very hard to stay in the game.Evie was playing a blinder as she tackled hard and made some fantastic runs. The game was in thw balance at half time and then a slight mishap in the blackhawks defence meant they had a tough task for the remainder of the game..They can fighting back as Eliza, on another menacing run was fouled on the edge of the box and Nola struck a free kick that rebounded to Eliza to smash in the top corner. The game was back on as we entered the final quarter... the girls were tired as they ran hard on a boggy pitch with no subs and gaps began to show.. Calverley exploited the gaps to finish the game strongly.A top effort from the girls in difficult circumstances.Captain: EdieParents player: EvieOpposition player: ElizaGoals: ElizaThe girls were tired, wet and cold but still in great spirits! Well done to them.. coaches were very proud! ... See MoreSee Less

Match Report: Horsforth SM vs Methley – U15 Girls (Away)Final Score: 2–4After a four-week break from competitive football, it took Methley around five minutes to settle into the game. Once they found their rhythm, the goals began to flow. The opener came from Esmae, who reacted quickest in the box to tap home and put Methley ahead.Soon after, a superb delivery from Pippa caused problems for the HSM defence, allowing Emily P to meet the cross and guide in Methley’s second, giving the visitors a deserved 0–2 lead.Horsforth SM responded, earning a penalty following a late tackle and converting to bring the score to 1–2. They nearly equalised moments later from a well-struck free kick just outside the area, but Belle produced a stunning save—stretching at full length to keep Methley ahead at the break. The second half saw both teams make changes, but it was Methley who adapted quickest. Ailie broke through on goal and powered her shot into the back of the net to restore the two-goal cushion.Horsforth SM continued to fight and were rewarded with a strong run through the middle and a well-placed finish to narrow the gap to 2–3. However, Methley responded instantly from the restart with slick build-up play ending in Belle getting on the scoresheet to secure the 2–4 victory.A solid team performance, great resilience, and some standout moments at both ends of the pitch ensured Methley returned home with all three points. ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️♥️🖤 ... 🔥 Cup Quarter-Final Clash: Pontefract Collieries U12' s Vs Methley Rebels U12'sThe Methley Rebels marched into the semi-finals of the Plate Cup after a fiery and nerve-shredding battle away to Pontefract Collieries. From the first whistle, Methley were on the front foot—fired up, battling hard, and refusing to be intimidated. After a tense opening exchange, the Rebels broke the deadlock and quickly added two more in a blistering spell to take a commanding 3–0 lead into half-time. The second half, however, was anything but straightforward. Pontefract struck twice early on—one of which was highly dubious—to raise the tension and test Methley’s resolve. But the Rebels dug deep, found their rhythm again, and grabbed a crucial fourth goal. A late Ponte strike set up a nervy final ten minutes, but Methley held firm, showing grit and determination to secure their place in the semi-final and keep their dream of retaining the Plate Cup alive. 🌟 Player Spotlights- Liliana – Commanding between the sticks, her distribution created countless chances. Quick off her line and brave, she pulled off several fine saves, including a standout diving stop to her left to tip the ball around the post. - Effie – Calmness personified. While chaos swirled around her, Effie stayed composed, passing beautifully out from defence and tackling with ferocity. Her composure earned her the Parents’ Player Award. - Nancy – Battling through a cold, she defended like a lion. Rapid in recovery and relentless in clearing danger, Nancy’s resilience shone through. - Orlaith – Captain fantastic once again. Rock-solid at the back, driving forward with the ball, and fighting for every challenge. Tenacious leadership at its best. - Evie – Pressed tirelessly, pinning Ponte back and never allowing them a moment’s peace. Balanced her defensive duties with smart passing and relentless work rate. - Kate – A warrior in midfield. One standout run saw her bulldoze through six tackles in succession. Her battling spirit epitomised the Rebels’ fight. - Flo – Electric down the wing, beating her defender time and again. Flo’s pace and pressure sparked numerous attacking moves. - Iris – A performance to remember. Shifted into central midfield, she was everywhere—transitioning defence into attack in a heartbeat. Rewarded with a superb hat-trick and an assist, Iris deservedly claimed the Coaches’ Player of the Match. - Ams – A beast in midfield. Broke up play, stood strong against Ponte’s physicality, and added composure with her passing. The unsung engine of the team. - Bella – Our super striker. Terrified the defence with her hold-up play, scored a cracking goal, and laid on lovely assists. Unlucky not to bag more, but her impact was undeniable. ⚽ Final WordThis was more than just a win—it was a statement. Methley Rebels showed fire, resilience, and togetherness in the face of pressure. With the semi-final looming, the girls have proven they have the steel to defend their crown. ... See MoreSee Less

U10 Panthers you little beauties! ⭐️Annie⭐️Aurora⭐️Bethany⭐️Darcey⭐️Elle⭐️Olivia … you did your coaches, supporters and Methley badges so proud today!!!Firstly a real show of grassroots spirit from Bradford City Amber to loan us keepers so the cup game could go on after a sickness bug depleted our numbers. All 4 girls who helped us out were great and we really appreciate their sportsmanship. In heavy conditions Bradford started the better of the two teams but the Panthers showed a fighting attitude and their hard work kept the game in reach. Energy levels were severely tested going into the final quarter with a bit to do but they absolutely went for it. A silky finish from Bethany ⚽️ lifted the team and you could feel the buzz. Aurora added two ⚽️⚽️ a clinical finish and an unstoppable top corner shot. It was a phenomenal team effort, they kept each other going, the passing was just brilliant, lots of selfless play in front of goal and loads of chances - dazzling stuff, we all even forgot about the weather! Darcey won the coaches’ award, an absolute rock defensively and creating many forward moves with her accurate passing. Aurora won the parents’ award for her drive, tackles and great late finishes. Annie won the opposition award for her dribbling and forward passing leading to two assists. The six of them looked as chuffed as punch coming off the field, they’d put a shift in but they knew they’d done good. Amazing stuff Panthers ❤️🖤❤️ ... See MoreSee Less

U15s Match Report - Methley Vs Askern It was a chilly start to our Saturday morning, but the reds made a hot start from the kick off against Askern. The lads were looking to pass the ball around and some nice passing combinations across the middle were finding the way out to the wings where we looked to get in behind. Askern's defense was compromised when Cash received the ball out wide from big Ethan O and drove into the box, cleverly cutting the ball back for Ethan CB, who read the play brilliantly and positioned himself perfectly to steer the ball top left, leaving the keeper no chance. 1-0!Askern had some quick attacks as the half went on and when we played a loose pass out from the back under pressure, the ball found their midfielder who played a through ball to their left winger to receive on the edge of the box and drive at Harry in goal. Our scrambling defence got across but she shot (maybe luckily for Askern)went in off the near post despite Harry being well positioned. 1-1!We didn't let our heads go down and kept trying to play our football. The midfield was being dominated by the reds but we could quite find the killer ball. Eventually our quality shone when late in the second, Olly F played a nice pass across to Ethan CB who'd found the half space down the right and spotted the keeper slightly out of position and smashed a sweet 20+ yard effort just inside the post to send us 2-1 up! Not content with 2 and having found his eye for goal, with a minute left, Ethan and Olly combined again. A great pass again found Ethan and his strike went high and over the keeper to send us 3-1 up! 2nd half, Askern our in a bright start, applying pressure from the off. Only a few minutes had passed when their long ball tactic game them and opportunity to challenge for the ball on the edge of our box and somehow the ball broke free neteer our keeper and defence, which resulted in a tap in for Askern to reduce the deficit to 1. 3-2!It became a bit of a battle from that point with the lads feeling understandably nervous of losing the lead (we know these guys can always turn games around from previous matches!) We kept trying to play our football but despite our stronger midfield, our attacks were being cut out and the long balls kept coming. 20 mins to go and a free kick to Askern is floated in from the right, going through to the back post. We had bodies in the box but somehow in the scramble we just couldn't clear the ball and it found its way over the line. 3-3!Some big tackles were going in from both sides and great physical battles were happening all over the pitch and it got a bit tasty but the lads on both sides kept it clean (mostly!). This is what Div 1 is all about 💪We made a few changes to try to get an advantage and break the deadlock while keeping it tight at the back to not throw away what we had, and with a mere second to go, some great passing down the right played Zain into a good position in the box. He took the ball forward under pressure, driving to goal and committing the keeper to cover his left post, could this be the chance??!!The shot went in but somehow the keeper got something on it and scrambled to smother the ball and secure the point for Askern.Great performance from all the lads against a well drilled team, but it just slipped away from us and we couldn't bring it back. MOTM performance from Ethan CB with a fantastic hat trick! Thanks to the Askern lads and coaches for a great game. Thanks also to the parents for the support again! ⚽⚽⚽ ... See MoreSee Less
