Match Report | Methley U15 Girls vs North East Leeds 4-0❤️⚽![]()
First home game of the season and Methley U15s were straight back at it against North East Leeds. After a month’s hiatus we thought it might take time to settle, but the girls were hungry for points from the first whistle.![]()
Emily P, Pippa, Ailie and Esmae set the tempo from the first whistle with relentless pressure, and it paid off with an early breakthrough as Emily P found the net after just five minutes. Reset and go again — Emily was back on the scoresheet soon after with a composed left-foot tap-in.![]()
Methley continued to dominate, attacking the ball and creating chances through some lovely link-up play. When NEL did manage to break, the back four of Leila, Lucy P, Freya and Lucy W were rock solid, denying any chances on goal.![]()
Pippa, fresh from a county game the night before, finally found her scoring boots after a few near misses and made it 3–0 before the half-time whistle.![]()
NEL reshuffled in the second half, but Pippa put the game to bed with another screamer to make it 4–0. On another day the scoreline could have been even bigger, but credit to the NEL keeper who made several cracking saves, including an impressive double stop to deny Ava.![]()
A special mention too for Becca, Eva and Kadi, who all made some great runs even without her glasses (Kadi) and played some excellent balls throughout the game. Every single girl started 2026 with fire in their belly — a real team performance to kick off the year in style 🔥⚽ ❤️

🔥 METHLEY UTD U16s 5️⃣ – 1️⃣ NEWBALD JUNIORS 🔥![]()
First game back after the Christmas break ❄️🎄
Weeks of weather disruption 🌧️
Up against the unbeaten league leaders 😤![]()
…and the lads made a proper statement 👊⚽️![]()
Methley started fast and looked sharp from the off, with both sides creating chances in an open first half. The breakthrough came right on the stroke of half-time when Miller found the net to give us a deserved 1–0 lead at the break 🔥![]()
Newbold responded early in the second half to make it 1–1 😬 but the reaction from Methley was spot on 👏![]()
Miller was fouled in the box (no debate about that one 🧱) and confidently stepped up to convert the penalty 😎🎯
2–1 Methley![]()
We stayed on the front foot and continued to dominate. Karol thought he’d added a third when the ball clearly crossed the line, only for it to be ruled out…
Santa definitely didn’t bring the ref new glasses 🎅👓😂![]()
Didn’t faze the lads one bit.
Bradders then made it 3–1 — and by that point, it honestly could’ve been four 🔥![]()
Newbald had a short spell of pressure, including a dangerous free kick, but Dash was solid as a rock 🧤🚫![]()
Back in control, Karol finally got his deserved goal to make it 4–1 👏🔥![]()
And to top it off…
Miller with an absolute top-corner screamer 🚀🎯
5–1 (and it could easily have been six 😮💨)![]()
💚 Massive team performance
💚 Character, quality, and intensity
💚 A huge result against top of the league![]()
📊 The win puts Methley just FOUR points off the top with a game in hand 👀⬆️![]()
🏆 Man of the Match: Miller
Different level today 👏🔥![]()
Proud of this group — that’s how you come back after the break 💚⚽️💪![]()

Isla was covering every blade of grass as usual and dictating the play. Nola was strong at the back and clearing everything that came her way. ![]()
The game evened out before two further strikes by Eliza as she ran the length of the pitch twice to put Blackhawks in command.![]()
Halle was a menace up front as she closed down their defenders and was unlucky not to get a goal for her efforts.![]()
The second half started and Blackhawks found themselves on the back foot as Alex and Edie were defending for their lives but the advantage briefly shortened before Eliza ran the length of the pitch to find the top corner.![]()
Evie came into her own in the last quarter and made some amazing runs as she battled down the right and Maia grew into the game and created a couple of chances late on.![]()

Where to start. Our defending superstar was on form today, chasing down balls and working with the goal keeper to save countless attacks and shots. Methley Rebels U12s vs Ossett Graphite![]()
Rebels Start the Year in Style With a Home Victory![]()
After seven long weeks without a competitive game, Methley Rebels returned to action looking eager but understandably rusty. The opening stages reflected that layoff — touches a little heavy, passes a little rushed, and the rhythm not quite there. Ossett sensed it and pushed the Rebels back early on, asking questions of the defence.![]()
But this team has character. Once they settled, the Rebels began to get the ball down, play their football, and grow into the game. A moment of clinical calmness from Bella helped settle the nerves, and from there the confidence flowed. The defence stood tall under pressure, the midfield began to win battles, and the attacking play sharpened with every minute.![]()
By the final whistle, Methley had not only shaken off the rust — they’d delivered a statement performance to kick off the year.![]()
PLAYER SPOTLIGHTS![]()
🔵 Liliana
A brilliant response to an early moment she’d consider below her usual elite standards. From then on she was superb — commanding her box, using her voice, sweeping up through balls, and distributing with real quality. Pulled off sharp saves when needed and even grabbed an assist with a pinpoint kick straight from her hands. A top performance.![]()
🔵 Effie
Ice-cold as always. Defensively solid with one outstanding covering tackle that stopped a dangerous Ossett break. Calm in possession, picking passes under pressure. Sent up top late on after showing Haaland‑esque finishing in training, and produced a filthy first touch to kill a high ball stone dead. Class.![]()
🔵 Nancy
A defensive standout. Strong, fast, sharp — she read the game brilliantly, stepping in to intercept, tackling with conviction, and driving out with the ball. A really impressive display that set the tone at the back.![]()
🔵 Orla
Rock solid yet again. Reliable, strong, and absolutely fearless — a true warrior in the Rebels back line. Loved seeing her drive out with the ball and fight for every duel. Another excellent shift.![]()
🔵 Evie
Arguably her best performance in a Rebels shirt. Covered every blade of grass, won the ball back relentlessly, and played with her head up, picking smart passes. Delivered a superb assist to send Bella through on goal. Parents recognised her impact with a well-deserved Parents’ Player of the Match.![]()
🔵 Kate
Came on and immediately injected energy — pressing high, unsettling Ossett, and pushing the team forward. Dropped into defence second half and didn’t miss a thing. A really strong, hard-working outing.![]()
🔵 Flo
Unplayable in the first half. The Ossett left-back will be seeing that flash of blonde hair in her sleep — Flo beat her time and time again. At the heart of everything good going forward and picked up two excellent assists. A very close runner-up for Player of the Match.![]()
🔵 Iris
Tried a few roles today and grew into the game beautifully. Once she settled, that blistering pace became a real weapon. Drove forward with intent and, as her confidence rose, began to take control of her side of the pitch. A strong, developing performance.![]()
🔵 Ams
A midfield warrior. Broke up play constantly, did the dirty work with pride, and gave the team a platform to build from. Great to see her driving forward with the ball or spreading play wide when the moment was right. A proper engine-room display.![]()
🔵 Bella
Simply unstoppable. Five goals — every one taken with clinical precision. But it wasn’t just the finishing: her hold-up play was outstanding, bringing teammates into the game and working tirelessly off the ball. A complete striker’s performance and a fully deserved Coaches’ Player of the Match.![]()
FINAL THOUGHTS![]()
A brilliant start to the year for the Rebels. After shaking off the rust, they showed quality, resilience, teamwork, and no shortage of flair. Performances all over the pitch to be proud of — and momentum to build on.![]()
The Rebels are back. And they look ready for a big year.

The u7 Warriors welcomed South Milford for a special Monday night game having not kicked a ball in anger for over a month.![]()
The Warriors were facing a huge step up and found the early exchanges tough as they give themselves a mountain to climb but in the 2nd quarter they quickly climbed it as George hit two screamers and Henry finished a solo run. The game then swing back and forth. ![]()

James was having a blinder down the right and was battling hard and making great yards with sublime passing down the wing.![]()

As the game was in the balance in the second half South Milford took control once again but the Warriors did not give up and came fighting back again. Reggie was battling hard and forcing the team up the pitch. ![]()

Really sad to see more vandalism at our Savile Park site, this has been reported to the police again as criminal damage. ![]()
We invest much time and effort in our pitches, we now have a long term lease on the pitches which requires us to maintain the pitches ourselves, at a cost to the football club.![]()
We invest good money in making the pitches look good and playable, with tens of thousands being spent each year on maintenance allowing over 700 players to play football in and around the village.![]()
If you an e-bike, if you have an e-scooter please do not go on to our pitches. We want these pitches to be the best they can be, we are trying hard to give the people of Methley and the wider community the best facilities we can. This reckless behaviour really tarnishes what we are trying to achieve.![]()
We have reached out to the council for more help to stop this, we need CCTV, we need the fencing replacing that has been vandalised to try and deter this behaviour. ![]()
If you live near Savile Park and have ring doorbell footage, CCTV or any other video recording equipment facing towards the gates or paths surrounding Savile Park could you please help us and the police in identifying these people.![]()
If you have someone in the family with an e-bike or e-scooter please can you ensure they do not go near the football pitches on these vehicles, they are damaging the pitches and making them unplayable. When caught you will receive a criminal conviction which will be on their recird for the rest of their lives.![]()
Please help us catch these people, patrols will be increased after school and at weekends around the sites but dog walkers, passers-by please if you see any activity on these electric bikes or scooters please report this to the police immediately or take pics to give us the evidence we need to catch these people. We will be doing regular spot checks as a club to hopefully catch these individuals. We are speaking to security and surveillance firms to get the evidence we need to provide to the police in future reports. ![]()
If you have any intelligence that may help catch these individuals could you please contact us at info@methleyunitedafc.org asap 🙏🏼![]()
I have attached a few photos but you can not see the scale of damage, this time they have literally damaged large areas of the Sav park field. 😞![]()

Methley United Move Quickly to Shut Down Man Utd Links ![]()
Methley United have issued a swift and firm response to growing speculation linking members of their coaching staff with the vacant Man Utd managerial position, insisting that no approaches have been made — and none will be entertained.![]()
Following confirmation that Man Utd have parted company with Reuben Amorin, rumours began circulating this morning, the former Premier League giants were said to be “monitoring the situation closely” at Methley United. Club sources, however, were quick to play down the reports.![]()
Open Age manager Adam Lynch is understood to have “no interest whatsoever” in discussions with the Glazer family, preferring instead to focus on domestic matters including team shape, substitute availability, subscription chasing and ensuring kits are sent to the laundry after matches. ![]()
A club insider said:
“Adam is very happy where he is. He enjoys the grassroots game and would like to avoid the Glazer family at all costs, they confidently said we are now a much bigger club than Man Utd so we have no fears at all that Adam will be going anywhere beyond Castleford Academy.”![]()
Attention briefly shifted to coach Ricky, who had been named by some as an outside contender following his high-profile Cookie Campaign, a protest aimed at addressing the lack of biscuit sharing between players and coaching staff. Despite early momentum, negotiations are believed to have broken down after it emerged Ricky is currently preoccupied with planning his next viral post.![]()
Methley United acknowledged there is “always interest” in coaches across the club — from Mini Lions through to Open Age — but confirmed all staff remain committed to the project.![]()
The club concluded by stating that normal service will resume shortly, with training sessions, matchday routines and cookie-related disputes continuing as planned.
