The u7 Warriors made the short trip to Colton for a game that threw up lots of drama and excitement. The game started tentatively as both teams sized each other up.. Bolton edged the early exchanges and were able to take advantage but this was short lived as Teddy L broke against the run of play to even things up.The 2nd quarter started and the Warriors had woken up and were now competing across the pitch. George was making good yards with some dynamic running and this swung the momentum back to Methley. They then made this count as Teddy L popped up for a trademark finish.Colton fired straight back as the pattern of the game started to take shape. James was covering every blade of grass as he chased and carried his opponents.Reggie made some vital tackles as the sides couldn't be separated at half time.An inspired half time team talk saw Teddy L do his thing one more time a mere 4 seconds into the 2nd half...From this point it was end to end and played at a frantic pace. Teddy G was busy and taking up some great positions as he stretched the advantage with a smart finish but back came Colton. Then the final quarter exploded even further as George smashed home a free kick but Colton wernt finished there... they rallied and the 5 players of Methley started to tire due to their huge efforts... Colton were able to snatch something with the last kick of the game.A brilliant morning of football and the Warriors lived up their name and battled until the end.Goals: Teddy G, Teddy L, GeorgeOpposition player: GeorgeParents player: JamesA great game that was enjoyed by all*Apologies but no photos were taken due to everyone being gripped by the rip roaring action! ... Methley u10s Whites hosted Horsforth JFC this morning at Church Lane. We started slowly but a fantastic 2nd half. The teamwork was amazing and I think it is the first time we have had 5 different scorers. Riley had a solid performance in goal, helped by a fantastic defensive display from James, Jesse and Ethan. Aaron's energy on the left wing was brilliant again and a fantastically taken goal. Thomas and Joe made some brilliant runs in midfield and played some lovely passes between them, both getting on the scoresheet with great finishing and a couple of assists each. Zach battled extremely well up front and thoroughly deserved his goal. Moment of the match had to be Ethan's goal which earned him the captain's armband this week. Im not sure who celebrated more, the coaches, parents or players. Player of the match went to Harry for an outstanding display in the central defensive midfield role. Some strong tackling breaking up the opposition play and very calm, controlled and accurate passing to turn defensive into attack. An impeccably observed minutes silence from the boys at the start of the match and big thank you to James S for stepping in to ref at short notice. ... See MoreSee Less

The u10 Panthers hosted West End Terriers at the Outwood pitch today and both teams started the fixture by coming together for a really well observed one-minute silence for Remembrance Day.The match itself was a real blood and thunder affair with tackles flying in from the very first whistle! The Panthers looked confident from the off, passed the ball well as they have in recent weeks, were vocal in organising each other and got great support from the subs too. The team dug in with grit and determination when needed which led to an early goal from Macey powering home a rebound from the opposition keeper after shots by both Aurora then Bethany. The game was full of grit and determination on both sides and this was epitomised by Macey’s second goal, charging down a defensive clearance then making space to fire home again.Macey was the Coaches’ Player after an energetic performance - making a real nuisance of herself up front and being rewarded with her two goals. The Parents’ player was Olivia who impressed with calmness in defence and her accurate passing. Alice again caught the opposition’s eye and adds an Opposition Player award to her collection 👏 Fantastic effort by all the girls once again! Well done Panthers ❤️🖤❤️ ... See MoreSee Less

First meeting since U9’s today against Wheldrake for U13 Whites. After an impeccably observed minutes silence, Methley were fairly dominant from the first whistle and were a tad unlucky to go in at HT leading only 1-0 thanks to a great strikers goal from Jake. Start of second half was even stevens until a goal from Oli R energised Methley who then took control of the game. Wheldrake’s #1 made some great saves but was unable to stop Corey’s lob to make it 3-0 Methley. Methley’s Van Der Ven (Olly Y) then scored a great long range goal to round off our scoring with Wheldrake grabbing a deserved consolation late on making the final score 4-1 🔴⚫️ ... See MoreSee Less

WHAT. A. PERFORMANCE.Blackhawks welcomed Castleford to Church Lane on a perfect morning for football and served up a roller coaster of a game (as always). The game started with a midfield battle as Isla was warming up for another blockbuster performance. The Parker girls were causing all kinds of problems down the wing as Edie and Halle started strong in defence. Maia was up top and keeping their defenders on their toes. The first quarter came and went and the girls were already breathing hard from their efforts. The second quarter started in a similar fashion as Eliza was beating defenders at will but then couldn't take advantage.Castleford then took control after some slick play to have a slender advantage at half time. The 3rd quarter was Balckhawks at their best.... after a lot of endeavour and hard work they started to put the visitors under more and more pressure... Isla was a machine in midfield.. Evie was buzzing around everywhere and Eliza then hit a volley from outside the box to bring Blackhawks back in to it.The Blackhawks then turned the screw and were relentless in attacking play... Nola was starting the attacks well with some fantastic passing. Then Eliza tried a pop shot and Alex was quick to pounce on the rebound.... Advantage Blackhawks. The final quarter was set up to be a nail biter... Edie was released up the pitch and ran her socks off.. she then produced the moment of the game to sprint the length of the pitch and make a last ditch tackle to keep Blackhawks in the ascendancy.Castleford piled on the pressure but couldn't break the resilience of the Blackhawks.. Eliza then ran the length of the pitch twice to relieve the pressure that was building. The game to an end and the girls were extremely proud and tired. What an effort... what a game... what a set of girls.Leadership team: Edie and AlexOpposition player: AlexParents player: IslaGoals: Eliza and Alex ... See MoreSee Less

Match Report- Cup Game - 02/10/2025Methley Lions U11s v Woodkirk Valley Whites. The lions played away at Woodkirk for a cup game today. They started off the game with a great attitude.Within minutes Majus scored an absolute worldie from outside the box. The lions were keeping their shape and pressing high as a team. Woodkirk showed some fight too and scored one back. We took a couple of knocks and had to move some stuff around. We took a number of shots at the goal, but credit where it is due, their goal keeper was ready, however Bobby placed himself where he needed to be, at the right time allowing him to get another goal. The lions were showing some great passing from the middle to find our wide players. The Lion attacker’s made some great runs forward and was causing Woodkirks defence trouble constantly. Through out all the boy fought deep to keep the ball in their possession and to prevent Woodkirk finalising an attack. With the Lions working hard, Faeley was able to control the ball down the sideline, he took a shot from outside the box and landed us another goal. The Lions keeper today, Henry worked really hard and made a number of incredible saves. At one point he saved several goals with in seconds of each other. His dedication showed and he was awarded with oppositions man of the match. Another great game from the Lions today, Well done boys! Goals ⚽️ Bobby x 1 Faeley x 1Majus x 1 Special mention from the coach: I thought Thomas did really well filling in at the back for us gaining himself coaches player. ⭐To go away to Woodkirk Valley Whites who play in a higher division than ourselves and perform the way we did 100% deserves the result we got!I think we played at about 70% it just shows really how far we've all come as a group! 👏Man of the match - Thomas. Titans U7 vs Garforth Villa – Match ReportThe Titans made the trip to Garforth Villa for what turned out to be an evenly matched and entertaining encounter. The pitch was slow and made for a scrappy battle — more suited to David Attenborough than David Beckham, with grass so long you half-expected to see a lion lurking in midfield! A couple of players nearly vanished completely before being rediscovered somewhere near the corner flag.Despite the jungle-like conditions, the lads battled brilliantly from start to finish. Sonny and Oscar were both on target again, continuing their fine scoring form. Jude was tenacious in defence — full of tackles and determination — while Tobias, Harry, and Riley all made their presence felt across the pitch.Safe-hands Corey was back between the sticks and looked sharp as ever, pulling off a couple of great saves and showing real improvement with his distribution, setting up several attacks straight from goal.Parents’ Player of the Match: OscarCoaches’ Player of the Match: JudeA brilliant team performance — grit and goals.
