A friendly today for Methley Panthers U10s at Outwood Grange after receiving a bye in the first round of the cup. The opposition was an u11 team from Guiseley organised to give the girls a test against an older and bigger team and true to form the Panthers got their teeth into the challenge from the first whistle!Quick fire goals from Aurora (2), Macey, Alice and Darcey were a deserved reward for such a quick start! Guiseley played the whole second half with an extra player but the girls continued to power on and added to their tally with an incredible team goal following a slalom run from Alice, a pinpoint cross from Aurora and a real poacher’s finish from Macey. The opposition award went (again!) to Alice for her energy and drive, the coaches’ award was won by Grace for her silky defending and calm under pressure passing and Annie won the parents’ award for leadership, strength and dribbling. Special mention to Matilda who turned up in a sling to cheer on her team - true team spirit! A fantastic effort all round from the girls in a really tough test. The growing composure and teamwork which each player is showing is really exciting to see! Go Panthers! ❤️🖤❤️ ... See MoreSee Less

The Blackhawks made a trip to Ackworth in the cup and with only 1 sub were absolute Warriors from start to finish. The game started with Blackhawks passing through their opponents and Alex and Eliza causing havoc with their direct style on either wing..Isla and Aria were solid in the middle and Blackhawks were able to take advantage with a solo effort from Eliza and a well wrkied goal with Isla hitting a searching pass for Eliza to complete a brace. The last kick of the half saw the game change as Ackworth scored..The 3rd quarter was a battle and the girls hung in there but lost their advantage but missed two golden chances on the break... the girls tired from their efforts but never gave up. Thunder had their first home game of the season this week, welcoming Greetland to Methely. It was a nail biter! Our girls worked their socks off ❤️Polly - she put into practise her training this week, finding space and getting on the attack from the first whistle. She worked well as part of the midfield to put pressure on the opposition. She was amazing in defence, shouting to her team mates and taking command. When she played in goal, she made some great saves as well! Dixie - another belter from Dixie! She played great football in midfield, she was relentless - never stopping running! She had some cracking shots on goal as well as some brilliant passing to her team mates to create chances. Mia - how she missed her shots today, we don’t know! She showed us some amazing attacking play, working with the team to push forwards and get some shots on goal. She has worked hard to find space again today and made some great passes. Margot - she had a fantastic stint in goal, making some great saves. In attack she was working hard on her tackling and played some lovely passes. She showed us resilience and determination today, and what a great team player she is. ❤️🏆⚽️ Parent’s Player Megan! As usual Megan did some amazing defending and marking the opposition. In the midfield, she was her usual feisty self, going for every ball with determination and making some lovely passes. ❤️🏆⚽️ Coaches Player Viv!Some really lovely attacking play today which evolves every game she plays. She worked so well with her team and is finding that all important space. She showed us great tackling to get the ball forward. #upthethunder ... See MoreSee Less

Methley Ladies Whites Sunday saw our Mighty Whites begin their season with a game against Garforth Owls. The Whites were buzzing to get their season underway and this was clear from the off when Susan netted in the first couple of minutes. The game then settled down with both teams playing some great football. Methley defence was standing exceptionally firm against everything that came their way and battling well for every ball whilst our attack was pushing hard for a second. After half time and the game still at 1-0, the Owls started to play some great football putting the pressure on however, the shot stopping debutant keeper, Lorraine kept everything at bay with some fantastic saves. Methley managed to retake control when a goal mouth scramble fell to Anna to slot home for her first league goal for the club! The team and supporters were jubilant for her which were doubled moments later when Catherine scored a lovely well taken opportunity from an Anna assist. Absolute limbs!!!!Catherine was handed Opps POTM for her continuous driving runs down the wing, very well deserved. Anna collected Coaches POTM for her tenacious defending and pin point passing throughout. The game ended 3-0 with an overjoyed squad after their triumphant performance. The coaching team couldn’t be prouder. Well done ladies! 🤍⚽️👏🏼 ... See MoreSee Less

Methley Utd Blacks U9 vs Methley Utd Vipers U9Game week 3 and a break in the league matches for both our teams so a friendly to keep our legs fresh and more practice at 7v7 needed. It’s always nice to play one of our compatriots at Methley especially as a lot of these boys we all jointly coached from minis until teams were organised in U6s. It’s great to see how they have all improved.Onto the game. This was a chance to focus on areas/positions that needed work and precision. Game was back and forth for 50 minutes with both teams playing the game right, with passion and tenacity and great teamwork on display. There was some great passing from both teams and defending and goalkeeping was top notch!Goal scorers today were Noah, Henry, Jack and Max with assists coming from Jack, Roman, Max and Tomas.Coaches Player of the Match: Joel for his great saves and kick outs.Opposition Player of the Match: Tomas for his all around play. ... Match Report: 21/09/2025Methley Lions Vs Polonia First Half: Methley got off to a bit of a slow start! Polonia really trapped us in and made it difficult to play! Even though we made some great runs forward we found ourselves outnumbered alot and their defence cleaned the ball up well. Polonia took the lead with a great strike that Henry couldn’t quite reach! Quickly followed by a penalty awarded to polonia from a late tackle. Although we were on the back foot there was some great team effort throughout.Deacon come on creating some promising chances but just coming up short. Second Half: We decided to shuffle the formation to allow us to attack the game moving into a 3-3-2 allowing Bobby some extra support up top with Deacon. We started to really cause them problems running behind winning free kicks to which Bobby slotted one beautifully into top bins. We also pushed Majus into midfeild who helped win the ball higher up the pitch.Logan was putting them under pressure on the right. We used Harrison at CB for the first time, who did a really good job along side Logan both holding off opposition.Didn't manage an equaliser but Henry does what he does best and stopped any further goals. All the boys really pushed to the end and played fantastic. Afternoon all A great game of football on a sunny morning at church lane, so first of all thanks to Horsforth JFC U8’s and their visitors, a pleasure to host and a very good match TOGETHERNESS has been key to our great start to the season. A great example I want to single out today is when we missed our penalty, 2 lads, Rohan and Eithan, were straight over the console their team mate and tell him it’s okay, and that was a major highlight of the game for me personally.Jai put us ahead in the early stages grabbing a quick brace, with Roman grabbing our third . Jai was fantastic as well today, scoring 2 goals from the back proving he can be a menace from any position, driving forward at defenders.Rohan was then re introduced in the final quarter and his presence in the forward areas was once again always dangerous, grabbing a brace for himself, very well deserved!Eithan was composed as ever and his range of passing and vision is improving week in, week out, and his contribution doesn’t by any means go unnoticed.Harrison and Thomas today as well were very solid defensively, and Harrison’s sharpness between the sticks is growing as well, really making the goalkeeper position his own, and was our very well deserved parents player of the match today! 🏆 Thomas cleared our lines very well 3/4 times in the last quarter of an hour or so, proving pivotal in keeping the goals conceded down alongside Harrison and Eithan.Hughie and Roman had the very difficult task of keeping tabs on horsforths number 2, no easy feat, and both were outstanding, being a physical presence themselves for him to think about.Hughie takes the coaches player of the match, and on behalf of all the coaches, has done a fantastic job being captain for the first 3 fixtures, well done Hughie 👏 absolutely relentless in his determination to win the ball, and spring our counter attacks as he often is, leading by example in this front. Our captain for the next few games will be Harrison, nominated by his team mates and coaches, let’s get behind the lads and thank you for your continued support! 🏆 🔴 ⚪️ ...
