Methley United Girls under 12s Raiders V North east Leeds.**Match detail*The Under 12 raiders Hosted north East Leeds in the second round of the West Yorkshire under12 girls league cup.The first half ended 0 – 2 to NEL, to have been only 2 goals down was a tad fortunate, we were not at our best. The second half was a completely different story, the whole team improved, we started to win some 50/50’s and Lilly Campbell bagged a brace to bring it back to 2 -2 at the final whistle. Being a cup match the game went to penalties which we won 3 -2 to progress to the quarter finals, Daisy Sheard, Tulia Wales and Lilly Campbell slotting home their efforts ,Lilly also in goal for the shoot out made 2 excellent saves. All keepers across both teams played their part today also, some cracking saves on display.*Players of the Match;*Coaches went to Lilly Hughes who worked tirelessly all game with some decisive through balls Parents player went to Lilly Campbell who as well as 2 goals, never gave up running and showing for her midfield.Opposition went to Daisy Sheard who stepped up to play in goal for the first time this season making some vital saves and booming clearances up field.*Player summary*As ever it’s a team effort, the headlines are always backed by hard work and effort from the whole team which was made harder by having no subs to call upon in a touch cup match.Daisy Sheard - as mentioned stepping up in goal, takes courage and ensured we had a chance in the game.Sienna Wright – continues to develop and battled against a NEL tricky winger making some vital tackles Scarlotte Kirkham – big tackles and big clearances again, NEL got short change when trying to press down her wing Tulia Wales – used her pace to get some big tackles in and relieve pressure with steady passing to our midfieldLilly Hughes – endless running even in the dying minutes vital tackles and a massive effort Bethany Gourley – another who worked tirelessly in midfield , always looking to support our attacks and played some excellent through balls.Theia Bell – Theia created some great chances and passing moves down her wing, whilst also doing the hard yards tracking back and making tackles Reeva Temple – Reeva covered most of the pitch, with bursting runs down the wing and our long through specialist on both sides of the pitch Lilly Campbell – as ever Lilly's running game gave the NEL defenders a torrid time and after some frustrating one on ones in the first half Lilly was able to covert 2 in the second bringing us back into the game.*We now progress to the quarterfinals* ... Match Report - 01.02.2026Methley Lions U11s vs Glasshoughton FC U11sMethley Lions delivered an outstanding all-round performance against Glasshoughton FC U11s, producing a display full of confidence, passion, and teamwork. From start to finish, the boys showed exactly how far they have come, with effort and commitment visible in every area of the pitch.Defensively, Methley Lions were excellent. The back line worked tirelessly, showing great organisation, strong communication, and minimal errors throughout the game. Henry was outstanding in goal, saving everything that came his way and giving the team confidence to push forward knowing they were secure at the back. The team’s movement off the ball was non-stop, something noticed and praised by parents on the sidelines. Methley controlled possession for the majority of the match, showing impressive footwork, well-timed passes, and some dangerous crosses into the box. Tactical decisions were clear to see, with the boys adapting well as the game progressed. The goals came through excellent team play: • A corner from Bobby found Faeley, who powered a header into the net. • Thomas provided a great assist for Toby to score. • Toby then returned the favour, assisting Bobby for a well-taken goal. • Toby added another goal himself after strong midfield play. • Another assist from Toby set Bobby up again. • Toby bagged him self another goal. • A powerful shot from Freddie forced a save from the goalkeeper, with Bobby reacting quickest to finish the rebound. • Faeley struck a strong effort that fell just short, but Bobby was there to push it over the line. • A long throw from Harrison found Faeley, who played Bobby in for another goal. • Bobby hit the post, the ball fell to Deacon, who crossed for Faeley to score. • Deacon also showed some lovely footwork of his own, finishing off a great move with a deserved goal.Overall, this was a fantastic team performance from Methley Lions. Methley Tigers U11s vs LS27 U11sDisappointing result today against a team who wanted to win from the off. Another brilliant defensive display from the boys at the back, where Freddie got opposition AND coaches MOM for the first time LS27 were strong in midfield and on the wings and had that bit too much, it wasn't until goalkeeper Jacob came out that we managed to grab a goal after great work on the wing from LeoLots to work on at training, thanks to player sponsors⚽️ - Jacob🅰️ - Leo🤝 + ⭐️ - FreddieAnDa Sports Camps Malbeck Developments A&B Groundworks ... The Warriors welcomed South Milford this morning for a cup game that was full of drama and some excellent football played in a great spirit. The first quarter was very tight as both teams created chances and were feeling their way into the game. It was close with Henry K defending well and James playing a blinder down the right had side as he ran and tackled with great intensity.Teddy G was playing well and getting some great positions and probing at the defence. Then some dodgy timekeeping from the otherwise brilliant referee allowed Sputh Milford get a late advantage. The 2nd quarter was Warriors at their best, high intensity and full of hard work. George was building into the game and found some lovely forward passes. Henry S was his usual energetic self and Isaac was battling hard.Half time came with nothing between the sides as Warriors dominated the 2nd quarter. The 3rd quarter began and sometimes the less said the better......The 4th quarter was a different beast thankfully as the Warriors showed big hearts and never stopped running. Henry S was very busy and Teddy L was covering every blade of grass as he worked relentlessly to try and get us back into the game. Reggie was driving them forward as they played for pride and showed amazing determination.Parents player: GeorgeOpposition player: HenryGoals: Henry ... See MoreSee Less

With games on grass being called off due to the recent weather conditons, Methley u10s Whites were lucky to have the opportunity to play on the 3g at Castleford Academy this morning to host Kirk Deighton. It was a lovely morning for a game of football jn the sunshine and turned out to be an evenly matched game. Some excellent defending and passing from both sides made for an entertaining game. The defending from both sides limited chances but we were unlucky not to score more goals with some excellent moves from defense to attack. Our goals came from Thomas and a clean sheet for Riley but the defensive work of the whole team was the best part of our performance today. Player of the match to Carter for a great display in Central defensive midfield and captain to Alex for his closing down and skills to move the ball from defense to attack quickly. Team mate of the match to Jesse as picked by his teammates. ... See MoreSee Less

A quarter final for the u10 Panthers today who made the short trip to Rothwell Juniors Reds for a cracking game, two energetic sides giving their all. 💫 Well done to Elle, Olivia and Penny who picked up the Coaches’, Parents and Opposition awards 💫Elle was committed and relentless, breaking up a lot of the oppo’s play with her tenacity. Making quick and smart choices she’d help out defensively then dig deep and spur the team on to attack. Great energy Elle, impressive!Olivia was on fire!! Got stuck in and worked hard. Her football nouse and silky skills are top notch and with committed battling and tackling plus superb ball distribution she was influencing everything in the game. A joy to watch Olivia!Penny shone in goal again and is providing the Panthers with a fantastic last line of defence with her keeper skills. She was the boss of her penalty area, pulled off some great saves and got the team moving forward with her powerful goal kicks. Great stuff Penny! It wasn’t our day today so we wish Rothwell Juniors good luck in the semi final. A great morning spent with all twelve of our Panthers ❤️🖤❤️ ... See MoreSee Less

Good luck to all teams playing at home or away on 3G pitches today, this is the first year we have ever been able to get access to 3g pitches on a Saturday and Sunday and this will be vital to the club going forward, to ensure we can keep games on whilst helping save our grass pitches throughout the winter period. This will enable us to keep the grass coverage at a decent level, to help prevent our pitches freezing (bare patches we know are more liable to this) and to help avoid another huge maintenance programme at the end of the season 🙏🏼We run the risk at present that we are competing for these spaces with other clubs wanting to use the shared 3g facilities (Outwood, Cas Academy & Fleet Lane), which is why we have launched this year the ‘Big Red Project’. This a project to improve our facilities at Methley and to provide a 3g facility for our community ❤️We are delighted that through the hiring of the 3g pitches this weekend, we have managed to ensure 9 out of 12 home games can go ahead today and we have 8 out of 9 home games going ahead tomorrow which means 20 teams are able to play, which keeps people happy and active and helps us stay on track with completing the season across the various teams and leagues.Have a lovely weekend everyone and let’s hope for better weather next week 🙏🏼#upthereds ... Andy Caps Match Report – A Masterclass in Low ExpectationsThe Andy Caps took to the pitch expecting very little and, in a rare display of consistency, delivered even less. The opening minutes were spent struggling to string together anything resembling a pass, before eventually creating a handful of chances — few, far between, and largely accidental. Attacking in numbers became the tactic of choice, which worked brilliantly right up until we lost the ball and remembered defence was also part of football.Ben spent most of the tournament wondering whether he’d followed through in his pants or in a tackle. Eventually, he decided neither mattered and put in a series of outstanding saves, proving once and for all he should’ve just played in goal all tournament. This was done while loudly berating a defence that, legally speaking, did not exist.Andy embraced his role as captain by warming the bench more than his feet, before coming on just to make absolutely sure the game was beyond saving. A true leader, ensuring we played as few matches as possible and were home in time for dinner.Scott peaked early, unleashing a worldie in the first game before immediately clocking out mentally. As the tournament went on, his focus shifted from football to locating the nearest KFC and questioning why kick-off times were interfering with that goal.Yvonne bravely put her body on the line — unfortunately, a little too on the line — and was forced to withdraw through injury, leaving the rest of us to honour her sacrifice by continuing to defend badly.Mark made some promising runs forward, often impressively so. Sadly, these were rarely matched by any desire or ability to run back the other way.Matt brought plenty of energy at times, and at others could be spotted checking his watch, clearly wondering if it was socially acceptable to leave early and get home for a long, reflective bath.Laura produced some genuinely great touches… which were immediately followed by some truly terrible ones, keeping everyone guessing — including herself.Daz frequently played like two players at once, a necessary effort given that at least two other players were usually playing like they weren’t there at all.Overall, it was a shocking performance, but great fun was had by all. A huge thank you to the supporters who persisted in watching some truly dreadful football from start to finish — your resilience did not go unnoticed. The Andy Caps performed exactly as expected and ensured they were home in time for the second half of the Man United game. We’ll continue not to train this year and, with any luck, do just as terribly at the next gala.Consistency is key. 🏆 ... See MoreSee Less

Rothwell Jnrs Blacks U9 vs Methley Utd Vipers U9Today our Vipers made the short trip to Woodlesford to play Rothwell Juniors Blacks. Weather conditions weren’t ideal but better than last week at least. As always, whenever these 2 teams meet, they’re close fought matches but always end to end action. First half our Vipers were on the front foot from the off, attacking with intent, and some great passing going on to try break through the Rothwell guard.Second half was a lot more tighter than the first, the weather conditions changed again, which seemed to have an impact on the players, understandably, but still the passing and defending was good from both sides. All keepers across both teams played their part today also, some cracking saves on display today. We worked a lot on pressing the ball in training on Wednesday, and this certainly came out in the game today.Goals today;HenryMaxRomanTomasPlayers of the Match;Coaches went to Max who got himself on the scoresheet, but also chased that ball everywhere it went.Opposition went to Tomas who as always, was everywhere on the pitch, one second he’s on the attack, and in a blink of the eye, he’s back defending.Despite the individual trophies. All 8 players today were Players of the Match. Such a great team performance. 8 Vipers all working hard for each other. ... See MoreSee Less

Titans vs Woodkirk Valley – Cup Match ReportThe Titans put in a superb cup performance against Woodkirk Valley, playing some outstanding football despite the driving rain and a frustrating lack of goals to show for it. On another day, the scoreline would have reflected the dominance, with the Titans’ expected goals soaring as chance after chance went begging. From the outset, the Titans moved the ball with confidence, finding better spaces and showing clear signs of progression in their passing and overall play.Oscar was a constant threat, testing the opposition goalkeeper on numerous occasions. He could easily have added to his tally but had to settle for a single, well-deserved goal.Riley was desperately unlucky, striking the post twice and seeing a free kick cleared off the line. Sonny terrorised the Woodkirk defence, repeatedly forcing saves from an inspired goalkeeper who denied him time and again.Harry also came agonisingly close, with one effort cleared off the line, while Jude delivered an excellent all-round performance — threading incisive forward passes and mopping up at the back. A standout display that earned him Man of the Match honours. At the other end, Corey was once again outstanding in goal. He made a crucial one-on-one save against their striker that looked a certain goal, keeping the Titans firmly in the contest.A hugely encouraging performance full of heart, quality, and improvement — even if the final result didn’t reflect just how well the Titans played. ...
