Methley Vipers U9 vs Churwell Lions Yellows U9Today was a slightly chilly but sunny away game in the league against Churwell Lions yellows! What a great game with both sets of kids and coaches playing the right way and parents supporting both teams! The game was a great one with some great play on show from both teams. From the start, we played some great football and both goalkeepers showing some great Pickford saves. Some of the goalkeeping today was top-notch!The boys played great and showed real determination and teamwork.Goals:NoahRomanAssists:TomasPlayers of the match:Opposition was given to H for his great saves to keep the Vipers in the game. Methley Strikers U7s – Away at Wrenthorpe Match Report + Player SpotlightsA brilliant response from the Strikers after a tough result in the reverse fixture. They came flying out of the traps, played some lovely football in spells, battled through every type of weather the UK could throw at them, and delivered a performance full of effort, energy, and improvement. Loads to be proud of, and still loads to grow into — the perfect mix at U7s.PLAYER SPOTLIGHTSSeb A standout display. He drove forward with purpose whenever the chance opened up, but what really impressed was his discipline — holding his position when his defensive partner pushed on. Scored a lovely goal and showed real leadership, organising teammates and guiding them around the pitch. Mature beyond his years.Finley Positionally excellent all game. Stayed alert, marked up well, and made some strong tackles. A really intelligent performance that helped keep the team balanced and competitive.Ellis Looked like a kid who spent the whole half‑term living in the garden with a football. Relentless energy, strong tackling, crisp passing, confident dribbling — and a brilliant catch during his spell in goal. The parents’ Player of the Match by an overwhelming margin, and fully deserved.Albie Set the tone immediately with a stunning solo run straight from kick‑off, gliding past defenders before calmly slotting home. Worked tirelessly throughout, constantly threatening and unlucky not to add more goals. Coaches’ Player of the Match for his effort, attitude, and quality.Jacob Strong, sharp, and full of confidence. Mixed up his game beautifully — sometimes driving at players, sometimes picking the right pass. His feet were far too quick for Wrenthorpe at times, drawing fouls but never losing focus. Bagged two great goals and earned the Team Mate Award for his all‑round play and effort.Nathaniel Worked incredibly hard for the team. Found pockets of space, looked for passes, and kept himself involved throughout. A proper shift and a really positive contribution.Kye Battled brilliantly from start to finish. Used the through ball well, pressed with intent, and put in a big shift for the team. A gritty, determined performance that helped the Strikers stay competitive.SUMMARYAfter a difficult result against Wrenthorpe last time, the Strikers delivered a much‑improved performance. They started like a train, played some great football in spells, and showed real resilience as they battled through sunshine, rain, wind, and everything in between. Most importantly, it was a team performance — full of effort, bravery, and moments of real quality. And the best part for the coaches? There’s still so much room to grow, learn, and get even better.Let’s keep pushing. Let’s keep improving. Let’s go Strikers 💪 ... See MoreSee Less

Great performance today by Methley Titans U7’s at home to Sherburn. A tight game where the whole team did well. We’ve been working in training on passing the ball and today it really paid off - showing how much the boys had been listening and working hard on the skill. We’ve had a special award for ‘passer of the week’ which was well deserved and won by Riley who’s passing hasn’t been his strong part (he prefers to dribble and run with the ball) so well done truly. Player of the match was new boy Albie, who was only playing his 5th game or so. He got better and more confident as the game went on which was fantastic to see, smashing a piledriver against the post. Well done Albie Corey in goal once again made some great saves, keeping the away goals to a minimum. He’s really coming in each week Harry was as tenacious as ever, tackling everything in his path. He crowned another good performance with a well taken goal but also his xg was very high as he had several great attempts at goal.Sonny played every position and had one of his best games. His running with the ball and choice of passes was as good as it’s been for him, showing he’s listening and applying himself. Jude in defence was almost impenetrable. As last man not many get past him. He was always available from a pass from the keeper and then looked for a good pass to a team mate.Oscar played across both flanks and was always available. He never stops running and was a manage to the opposition defence. So well done to the boys, they are really improving each week which is testament to their application and listening. U18 reds v Ackworth - match reportA drizzly morning away at Ackworth in a top of the table clash.. if the reds had any aspirations to win the title this was a must win…. There was a sense of nervousness during the warm up and the first 10 mins of the game with Ackworth applying early pressure.. the reds held firm.. we started to get into game and after 15 mins we took the lead with a great finish from James Clayson.. we began to push the Ackworth back line who were worried about our pace up front.. shortly afterwards a superb delivery from Zach Wood allowed James to grab his second. 2-0 up!!! Time to push the advantage and soon another through ball was jumped on by Arthur Whelpton who slotted the ball into the bottom corner.. 3-0 in dreamland!! Ackworth were on the ropes and another superb deliver from Zach allowed Dan Kay to get his head on the ball and make it 4-0!!! Wow.. the lads were playing brilliant football when we were awarded another free kick.. another deft dink into the box from Zach gave James C another opportunity which he took brilliantly 5-0 and a hat trick for JC.. unbelievable stuff!! Half time… Ackworth came out fighting in the second half and really controlled the rest of game.. 5-0 became 5-1, then 5-2… the lads were getting worried.. Ackworth got another with 10 mins to go 5-3 - squeeky bum time… however the lads remained calm and held on for a superb victory.. some big games to come including a cup qtr final.. #upthereds #muafc ... Methley Rebels U12s – Friendly Away vs Ossett Final Score: Ossett 0–8 Methley RebelsWith the league season wrapped up and the Plate Final on the horizon, the Rebels travelled to Ossett for a much‑needed run‑out to stay sharp. The girls delivered an excellent performance, running out 8–0 winners, but the scoreline doesn’t tell the full story. Ossett competed throughout, made the Rebels work, and even added an extra player in the second half — exactly the kind of test the girls needed to keep their edge.Despite the comfortable margin, the Rebels’ intensity never dipped. They pressed, passed, and battled from first whistle to last, showing the hunger and focus of a team preparing for a final.Player SpotlightsLiliana – Another clean sheet and another step forward. Her distribution is becoming a real weapon, launching attacks with brilliant kicks out of her hands and almost grabbing an assist. Switched to defence for 15 minutes in the second half and looked completely at home — strong tackles, composed passing, and great awareness.Nancy – Sharp, switched on, and relentless. She read danger early, stepped in to win countless balls, and kept the back line calm and organised. Another really solid outing.Orlaith – A true captain’s shift. Moved positions without hesitation, doing whatever the team needed. Strong in the tackle, clever in possession, and consistently finding positive passes. Led by example all game.Lily H – Stepping up three divisions is no small ask, but she handled it brilliantly. Won tackles, kept her head up, and looked to play forward whenever she could. Her attitude was spot on and she slotted into the team seamlessly.Kate – Outstanding from start to finish. Didn’t miss a tackle, cleared her lines with confidence, and was always there to support teammates. A rock at the back and fully deserving of Coaches’ Player of the Match.Flo – Dangerous throughout. She drove at defenders, created chances, and looked hungry every time she received the ball. A spell up top saw her rewarded with a well‑taken goal.Iris – In electric form again. Threaded through ball after through ball, carving Ossett open and setting up chance after chance. Fast, direct, and decisive. Capped her performance with the coolest finish you’ll see from a corner — a beautifully nonchalant goal.Ams – Looked up for it from the very first minute. Strong, powerful, and determined in the press. Won the ball back repeatedly and used it well, especially out wide. Finished with a superb high strike into the net.Bella – Unplayable. Four brilliant goals and could easily have had more if not for an inspired Ossett keeper. She tore through the heart of the defence time and again. A sensational performance.Effie – Calm in chaos. Another assured display from our “silent but violent” defender. Rock‑solid in the tackle, composed on the ball, and always finding forward passes. Recognised by the parents as Parents’ Player of the Match.Lily C – Another player stepping up divisions to help the Rebels, and she absolutely delivered. Brave on the ball, worked tirelessly, and was unlucky not to score. Her efforts earned her Opposition Player of the Match — fully deserved.Final ThoughtsA brilliant run‑out and a valuable test. The Rebels showed professionalism, work rate, and togetherness throughout, even when well ahead. With the Plate Final approaching, this was exactly the kind of performance the coaches wanted to see — sharp, committed, and full of confidence.Ready for the final. Rebels rising. ... Methley U13 Whites 2 - 0 Altofts U13 Blacks Methley U13 Whites produced a fantastic team performance to secure a 2–0 victory over Altofts, a dominant display from start to finish to avenge a 4–0 defeat earlier in the season. From the start, Methley controlled the game with confidence and intensity, pressing high and creating chances. Dylan bagged the opener with a great strike from the edge of the box that flew past the keeper to give Methley a deserved lead.Methley continued to press and were rewarded with a second when Oliver R headed home a superb cross from winger Charlie, finishing off a great team move. Altofts came close to nicking one back but defender Luca produced a crucial goal line clearance to ensure the clean sheet, much to the relief of #1 Logan. It was another excellent team performance from Methley, who showed great determination throughout. The clean sheet was an also testament to a solid defensive effort. Oliver Y was named Coaches Player of the Match, while Oli S earned the Parents’ Player award.A fantastic result and a well earned victory for the U13 Whites 🥳 ... See MoreSee Less

Our superstar u10 Panthers gave it their all today away at Ossett Town Pearls. With a reduced squad and various ailments across the team, every girl on the pitch had to work really hard!! Well done Panthers! Drive and energy, great running with the ball and lots of one on one battling.Parents’ Player MACEY 🌟Impressive spells in goal, some fantastic saves and those long goal kicks helped get Methley back on the attack. Opposition Player GRACE 🌟 Our unflappable defender caught Ossett’s eye. Clever reading of the game to position well and repeatedly break up play. U18 Reds match report.. Cup game v Knottingley:On a sunny Tuesday evening we headed to Knottingley from the league above for a cup tie under the floodlights… we were missing a few players through injury, but we were determined to put in a performance.. we started the game very brightly with Logan Cooper and Ronnie Brown causing problems down the wings and Albie Mathews through the middle… we couldn’t quite get the final touch to get the reward we deserved… Knottingley came into the game and pushed forward, however our CB partnership of Zach Wood and Robbie Beachall were very solid.. there was nothing to choose between the two teams.. however not long before half time we gave away a free kick on the edge of the box.. the Knottingley player finishing in the bottom corner to put us 1-0 down… HT 1-0.. we knew we could get back into the game and started the second half brightly… Issac Langdon winning a corner and from that set piece James Clayson calmly slotted in the equaliser 1-1.. The game ebbed and flowed with both teams producing some good football, however both defences remained solid.. Oli Paul, Reuben Wood and Jack Ellis particularly impressive for the Reds.. Extra Time loomed… Knottingley went forward, but a great save from Zak Newton prevented them taking the lead… we carried on pushing Oli Barnham, Jack Taylor and Oli Harvey all bossing the midfield area.. full time whistle.. another 30 mins to play… the lads were tired but a few tactical tweaks from the gaffer we were ready… Extra time was when the game really came to life… from a corner James Clayson put the ball straight in 1-2 to the reds.. backs to the wall time!!! As Knottingley pushed to take it to penalties we got a breakaway and Albie Mathews made the game 1-3 with a minute to go… Get in!! What a game… every single player put everything into it, they limped off tired and worn, but with a place in the Qtr Finals secured.. job done… #muafc #upthereds ... See MoreSee Less

U9 Match ReportAmaranth Blacks vs Methley VipersToday our U9 Vipers made the short trip to Cross Gates to face Amaranth Blacks. It was definitely a game of 2 halves and this was mainly due to the wind. The game started off a tight affair, with both teams unable to break the deadlock with both keepers making some great saves. The game opened up a bit more halfway through the first half with Amaranth on top, scoring some good goals. In the second half, the game changed, we got to grips with the conditions and scored some great goals including an absolute worldy from Noah,. The defence stepped up too with some solid defending, the wingers and midfield made some good passes/through balls, and both keepers making excellent saves. The stand out, a triple save from Joel.Goals today;HarrisonNoah.Assists; TomasPlayers of the Match;Opposition: was given to Joel, who had one of his best performances in goals today, making loads of saves including the triple save.Coaches: was given to Noah, for his goals and great play throughout the game. ... Ebor U11s vs Methley Tigers U11sWell what an end to a fabulous season, 3 words todayGutsDeterminationAttitudeBilly - an end of season cameo? No. For those who don't know, Billy has been struggling with his leg, knee, heels for some time. He's trained through pain and done that with a smile on his face. Deserved to play today, could have just turned up, but in typical Billy fashion, he threw himself into everything during a really feisty game, winning the Opposition MOM in the process. Proud.Oliver - a weekend of great football for the lad. Comfortable at right back and some equally big saves, never say die attitude and looks really settled in the Tigers.Zac - If you need someone to set a tone in a game that needs physicality, he's your man. He listens, works hard and has developed so much this season. Integral.Archie - slow start to the game, followed by the Archie we all know and love. Tenacious, hard working and looks at home playing a year up. Hawk - very unfortunate not to walk away with MOM, pipped at the last. Looks at home at CDM. Good on the ball, reads it well, covers his defense. Really proud of him lately. If he cuts the laps out he will be a superstar. Wonderful free kick to start the comeback too!Isaac - me and Isaac have had a few heart to hearts lately. Finding it hard to recapture his goal scoring form, but forever turning in massive performances. Told him it will come, and he never stops trying, so unlucky not to score but absolutely deserved the Coaches MOM. Reuben - another one that I've had a few private chats with. Talented, with belief in himself comes a very clever footballer and today he showed exactly that, coupled with dogged determination. It doesn't go unnoticed when him and Hawk battled to win a ball back that we nearly scored from. Brilliant stuff.Charlie - his biggest critic at times, needs a rocket up his arse, but when it clicks, it clicks in a big way. Unplayable on his day, unstoppable right foot, and today a tidy goal with the left. After a sulk, some great battling down the right with Isaac too.Leo - looking at home in the Tigers, plays safe when needed, runs, tackles and in a really tough game today, stood firm and tall, quality stuff from a lad improving week by week.Jacob - when this boy concentrates he's a problem, he runs more than he ever has and has great feet, a little bit of confidence to shoot more and the goals will come again. Another great performance. Logan - played really well when on the pitch but suffered an injury and was extremely tired to return. Another great season nonetheless. I wanted to save Parker til last.Parker - no MOM today, but another who ran them close. Wiped out by a disgusting challenge and came off after receiving studs in his abdomen. I've chatted to him before about these injuries, are you injured etc and today he really impressed me. He was genuinely hurt, clearly, but wanted to come back on. He came on, and scored what can only be described as one of the best goals you'll ever see at this level. Awkward angle, 25 yards out, thundered in off the crossbar, he enters the race for goal of the season with one of the last kicks. So proud today, and I hope you all are too. There is no way this group of boys do this last season. They are together, they are a team and they hunt for each other. Match report U7 Titans v Glen Juniors.Great performance by the boys today given we only had 5 players and the best performance of the season by far. A cold windy day with a pitch with a real slope but the boys battled well against it and made the best of it when with it. Everyone apart from keeper Corey played in every position and adapted really well. Never stopped running even without a rest.Man of the match - ALL of them so they rightfully shared it (see photo) @👏👏- Goalkeeper Corey made some great saves as usual and just gets better every game - took one piledriver into the rib cage and he never flinched. - Harry didn’t miss as tackle and his passing was first class. His goal was like watching Messi as he beat several defenders before slotting it into the corner of the net. - Riley with a hat trick showed his strength in his running and gave their keeper a lot to do. Took several heavy challenges too but bounced back well. - Oscar really did well especially as he left his favourite right wing position to play up front, at the back where he did really well, and on the left. - Sonny is really coming on and has almost mastered the drag back as well as his running with the ball and passing. A great team performance that sent everyone home very happy ... See MoreSee Less
