Methley U15 girls vs Horsforth Jets 4-0Methley U15 Girls put in an outstanding team performance yesterday at home to Horsforth despite illness, injuries and expeditions leaving the squad down to just 11 players. The girls trained hard all week, adapting to different positions and systems, and it showed from the very first whistle.Methley started brightly, playing some of the best football seen this season. The left-hand side partnership of Lucy W and Eva was exceptional, linking up brilliantly with strength, support and composure on the ball as the girls continued to move play forward with confidence. The breakthrough came after a driving run from Leila at right back. Her absolute worldie of a strike from outside the area smashed against the post before finding the back of the net. There were plenty of debates on the pitch afterwards as to whether Ava-Beau got the final touch with her head or shoulder, but we’ll let the girls settle that one themselves!Ava-Beau was determined to make her mark on the game and within 15 minutes had added two more goals, showing great calmness and composure in front of goal to send Methley into half-time with a deserved 3-0 lead.Horsforth changed shape in the second half, but the girls adapted brilliantly, naturally switching from a back three to a back four while continuing to show fantastic teamwork and spirit.Belle battled tirelessly up front all game, often taking on more than one defender at a time. Her hard work paid off when she won the ball, looked up quickly and delivered the most selfless pass across the face of goal for Pippa, who had plenty of space to calmly finish and make it four.Kadi, Aillie and Becca were a force to be reckoned with in Midfield and Lucy P a tower of strength throughout, whilst Mads caused chaos down the right wing, sprinting relentlessly up and down the pitch like a tennis ball to the constant shouts of Chris from the sideline! An absolutely outstanding performance from every single player. The girls worked for each other from start to finish and made everyone extremely proud. ♥️ 🖤 ⚽️ ... See MoreSee Less

The u10 Panthers travelled to Calverley today and they brought their beach vibes from the weekend playing with real cohesion, getting better and better as the game went on. There were some busy spells for the keepers early doors and the reliables in goal Penny and Ruby had that covered, supported by some great defensive play. As the Panthers settled into the game they turned the tables and the focus became more about relentless forward play and creating chances. ⚽️ Macey and Aurora were today’s goal scorers ⚽️The team attitude was spot on, as were the strong tackles, incisive passing and excellent set pieces. Coaches’ Player Bethany 💫Total commitment to the side before self mantra, up and down that wing supporting the defence and getting forward with blistering speed. The coaches commented on energy and effort, an important outlet for the Panthers today!Parents’ Player Matilda 💫A resolute performance, never gave up, chased every ball. Some strong, physical commitment needed and Matilda didn’t shy away from the battles. A real impact at the back!Opposition Player Aurora 💫There’s always a chance of goals when Aurora’s on the pitch and today she wowed with a superb assist and a long range goal, and came close to scoring more. Well-deserved!Another entertaining Saturday morning thanks to this great team, well played Panthers ❤️🖤❤️ ... See MoreSee Less

U9 Match ReportAlverthorpe Blues vs Methley VipersYesterday our Vipers made the short trip over to Wakefield for a friendly against our wonderful hosts, Alverthorpe. Always a pleasure getting together with either Blues or Whites. The game throughout was a good tight affair, really end to end stuff for the full 50 minutes. Some really good link up play from both teams and quite a few saves having to be made from both keepers.Great to see how much Steve’s team have come on over this season.Goals today came from Noah.Players of the match;Opposition went to Tomas for his overall play and link up with Noah.Coaches went to Noah who battled all over yesterday, and as with Tomas, linked up really well together ... The TigersU11s of Methley United AFC Stuck together through thick and thin, very few additions in the last few seasons, play in the bottom echelons of the Garforth Junior Football League We believe in coaching them, rather than recruiting the best around to build a better squad to attack the league tablesThe boys are a unit, they work for each other, have a great team spirit and performances have slowly but surely started to improveIan and I are so proud of how far they've come over the last couple of seasons and today's victory at Kirk Deighton Gala was kind of a nice icing on a memorable seasonOliver made a crucial, full stretch finger tip save in the semi finals penalty shootout, Charlie hammered the bar from inside his own half in the final, Jacob clattered home the winning free kick. Reuben was right place right time to fire home a Ben corner whilst Zac and Freddie were rock solid at the back throughoutIsaac and Hawk provided the much needed creativity to unlock the tight defences on the smaller pitchesThere were tears in the penalty shootout followed by cheers at the endFootball is just wondPaul Wilsonaul Wilson ... A fabulous day with the U10 Panthers at the beach football at Bridlington. They were absolutely brilliant!! From a hesitant start they adapted quickly and became a dominating force. A tough ending for them losing the quarters on sudden death penalties but they‘d pleased the crowd, you couldn’t have asked for more. The coaches and parents were bursting with pride! The traditional dip in the sea soon lifted the mood and it’s only right that the smiles were back after the great performances they’d put in.Between games there was camaraderie at the double-gazebo base camp, new team songs, support for the siblings’ world record dig, a lot (LOT) of crisps consumed and simply loads of fun. Great day Panthers ❤️🖤❤️ ... See MoreSee Less

Methley Rebels U12 – Plate Cup Final Champions (Again!) Methley Rebels 4–0 AYD PhoenixMethley Rebels have done it again. Back‑to‑back Plate Cup champions, and they did it in style. A dominant 4–0 performance in the final, full of grit, quality, and that unmistakable Rebels spirit. From the first whistle they looked hungry, organised, and ready to defend their crown – and by the end, the coaches were absolutely beaming with pride. This wasn’t just a win. It was a statement. Ten girls turning up on the biggest stage and delivering one of their most complete team performances of the season.⭐ Player Spotlights ⭐LilianaRock solid. Confident. Commanding. Liliana looked every inch a cup‑final goalkeeper – calm hands, brave decisions, and constant communication that kept the back line organised. Her kicking was superb all game, and her booming strike forward for the second goal was chef’s kiss… an assist in a cup final from your keeper is special. Brilliant performance.OrlaithCaptain fantastic led by example again. She battled for everything, won tackles all over the pitch, linked play beautifully and was unlucky not to get herself on the scoresheet. A real leader’s shift on the biggest day.KateHer best performance in a Rebels shirt. Kate was immense – didn’t miss a tackle, read danger early, cleared her lines with confidence and backed up her teammates at every opportunity. Coaches were seriously impressed. A huge game from her.FloPure chaos in the best possible way. Flo caused mayhem all match, but the second half… she was unplayable. Driving at defenders, creating chances, and then finishing the day with a gorgeous goal off the post when she moved up top. Electric performance.IrisUnplayable. Outstanding. Terrifying for defenders. Iris was on another level. The right‑back will be having nightmares after this one – Iris beat her time and time again, driving the Rebels forward and creating chance after chance. Two brilliant assists, relentless work rate, and huge defensive tracking back. Fully deserved Parents’ Player of the Match.AmsA warrior in midfield. Strong in the tackle, clever in her positioning, and constantly breaking up play. She covered so much ground, supported attacks, and protected the defence. Another massive shift from Ams.BellaA hat‑trick in a cup final. Enough said. Bella was sensational – holding the ball up, linking play, driving at defenders and finishing with absolute class. Three superb goals, including a stunning lob for her second. Methley’s lethal finisher delivered when it mattered most. Coaches’ Player of the Match.NancyPhenomenal. Nancy won everything. Interceptions, tackles, recovery runs – she was everywhere. Quick to step in, quick to cover, and brilliant at turning defence into attack. A huge performance on a huge day.EvieRock solid and reliable as ever. Evie didn’t miss a tackle, stepped into midfield when needed, picked up loose balls and played some lovely passes forward. A really composed, intelligent defensive display.EffieThe Effster turned up big. Won every 50/50, stayed calm in possession, and covered her teammates superbly. She looked sharp, focused, and absolutely up for the occasion. Another outstanding performance from one of the Rebels’ most dependable players.🏆 Back‑to‑Back ChampionsA fantastic final from the mighty Rebels. All ten girls delivered. They worked for each other, fought for each other, and then showed real quality when it mattered. This is a proper team – every player contributing, every player lifting the others.Coaches and parents couldn’t be prouder. Two years. Two finals. Two trophies. Shield Final Match Report – Methley U15 Girls vs Halifax FC Women 0-3 At Wetherby, the Methley U15 Girls stepped onto the pitch for their first-ever final, facing a strong Halifax FC Women side from the division above. From the first whistle, the Reds showed determination and composure well beyond their years, ready to test themselves against top-tier opposition. The opening stages were competitive, with Methley pressing well and moving the ball confidently. However, Halifax took the lead through a slice of fortune — a rebound falling kindly at the striker’s feet, leaving little chance for the defence to react. Despite the setback, Methley didn’t let their heads drop, continuing to push forward and challenge their opponents.Halifax extended their lead later in the half with a well-worked move, a precise through ball finding the winger. A momentary lapse in defensive awareness allowed the attacker space to finish and make it two.The second half saw Methley raise their intensity, pressing higher and showing real intent to get back into the game. Their effort and energy were clear, but they struggled to find the final touch in front of goal that could shift the momentum.Midway through the half, an unfortunate injury forced a reshuffle in the Methley side. With concern for their teammate understandably on their minds, gaps began to appear, and Halifax capitalised, catching the keeper off guard to add a third goal.Despite the result, this was a performance full of heart, resilience, and promise. The coaches and parents could not be prouder of the young ladies, not just for this match but for their efforts throughout the entire season. Finishing as runners-up in their first final, especially against a team competing near the top of the division above, is an achievement to be celebrated — and a strong foundation for what lies ahead ❤️ 🖤 ⚽️ ... To round off the 2025/26 league season, Methley U13 Whites made the short midweek trip to face Monk Fryston, looking to finish the season on a high and did just that with an impressive 5-1 victory.Methley started brightly and quickly took control of the game, with Dylan pulling the strings in midfield and causing constant problems for Monk Fryston. Early pressure paid off in the 5th minute when Dylan hit a superb long range effort that found the back of the net to give Methley a deserved lead.Methley continued to dominate possession and their persistence was rewarded again in the 23rd minute. Luca stepped up confidently from the penalty spot and made no mistake doubling Methley’s advantage.Just three minutes later, Methley struck again. Corey was in the right place at the right time to slot home from close range, capping off a great first half sending Methley into the break 3 to the good. Monk Fryston were first on the board in the second half via a penalty offering a glimmer of hope. However, Methley remained in control and any hopes of a comeback were ended in the 49th minute when Archie finished off a fantastic cross from Blake, calmly tapping home to restore the three goal cushion making it 4-1.Methley continued to press, and in the 62nd minute were awarded another penalty following a handball. Initially saved, Archie reacted quickest to the rebound, tapping home to net his brace and complete the scoring at 5-1.It was a strong team performance to close the season, with every player contributing. Dylan’s outstanding display earned him the Coaches Player of the Match, while the Parents vote was shared between Luca and goalkeeper Logan, who was once again excellent between the posts.. only beaten from the penalty spot.A fitting end to a fantastic season for Methley U13 Whites ⚽ ... The young vandals on bikes are back we’ve spotted them this evening (03/05) - thank you to all the local residents for your support. We know exactly who they are, hopefully just a matter of time now until the police catch them with patrols now becoming more regular in the area. Please keep calling 101 to report issues with these bikes when they are causing a nuisance around the village - please do not ignore it, report them immediately 👍Cameras are now operating around the area to track their activity, it’s pretty sad that these youths are continuing to vandalise a football field where many of our local community play.Rather than vandalise our pitches we invite you to come along to a training session, join one of our teams and play on them and add value to your village ⚽️🙏🏼 ... U9 Match ReportMethley Vipers vs Shadwell UtdThis morning we welcomed Shadwell to Church Lane for a post season friendly. Great set of coaches and players.Weather conditions weren’t ideal, but the lads didn’t let that affect them. The opening 5 minutes we found ourselves pinned in our own half, but then our opening goal felt like it opened the game. The lads really battled well today, worked really hard for each other, and hearing the voices on the pitch, something we’ve been trying to work on with them in training was great to see / hear. Seeing how the lads have come on and improved during the second half of the season has been amazing, and they should all be proud of how they’ve turned things around.Goals today came from;HenryLucasNoahTomasPlayers of the Match;Opposition went to Tomas who again was all over the pitch, attacking, defending, scoring and assisting.Coaches could have gone to any player today as we had 8 warriors on that pitch, however we decided to focus on a position that goes under the radar in games, defence! Our trophy this week went to Arthur who had a really solid game in defence. Naturally plays on the right, but used on the left and really battled across the back line when needed, and was there to get the tackles, blocks and clearances in. ... See MoreSee Less
