Well here is some more great news. Following the stories of Cam and Emma last week we are delighted to share the success of Ernie Browes. It's been a fabulous season for Ernie for Methley United U12s Blacks! Playing in the top division of the Selby league, Ernie was one of the league's top scorers from centre midfield and his impressive performances saw him scouted by Bradford City FC, where he's been training for the last few months. He's really enjoying the sessions with Bradford so far!The icing on the cake for the season was a successful trial with the FA Leeds Schools District team. Ernie made it through three rounds of trials from over 150 boys put forward by their schools, plus the current squad, and is one of 16 lads who will form next season's U13s team, playing against schools teams from all over the north of England. Whilst this means he won't be able to play with Methley next year, he will be sure to keep in touch with the great mates he's played with for the last 6 seasons at Methley United. Another sad result of Ernie’s progress is that his Dad and Methley Vets legend Andy Browes will no longer be coaching at Methley for a little while, though when young Fleur starts in the mini lions we know he will be back ❤️⚽️❤️ ... We have our first piece of silverware 🏆Methley Whites U7 (U8 Vipers next season) went to Alverthorpe Gala on Saturday , great gala may I add. 7 group games played with top 4 going into Champions League and bottom 4 into Europa League. Some great battles in all group matches but goal difference had us qualify for Europa League. Arthur from out of nowhere, turned into John Stones and went on those crazy runs from defence.Cristian turned into Jordan Pickford for the semi final penalty shootout, saving all 3 penalties he faced. Sure he had the opposition names on his bottle. Was also like a wall in defence, so determined to not let anything get through him.Henry, Mr Versatile. Played in defence, on the wing and in net! Always plays wherever we put him and tries his best to get the win with his mates!Jack The whippet popping up with a number of goals, a couple of those were crucial goals for the team at vital times in the match, whilst also getting back to defend.Joel the General, lead his team well, and his more attacking position got himself a couple of goals and a handful of assists.Lucas, quiet but efficient, made some cracking passes and interceptions and nearly scored a couple of times in a close match! Noah goalscoring supreme. Cracking goals and never give up attitude to win a ball back. He pretty much covers every inch of the pitch. He’s like a Jedi, sure he uses the force to control that ball.Roman as always getting stuck in, he really lives up to his nickname of The Pitbull. Never gave up and never gave in! Played some absolute class passes through from the back.Such a great way to end our U7 season. Super proud of this team, their resilience and their bond. ... See MoreSee Less

As part of the off season updates, celebrating some of our individual and team successes I am delighted to add to Emma Fenton’s representative success with news of Cameron Paul’s successful trial at Bradford City at the end of last season which resulted in him playing in several u16s and u19s games and receiving an offer to join the scholarship in the academy program for season 2024-25.Cam started his footballing career at 4 years old at Methley going through the mini lions setup which was based at the cricket field, then playing in all the junior age groups from the U7s to u16s having huge success as a striker throughout his Methley journey. We wish Cam well for the next 2 years at Bradford and we look forward to hearing more about his new journey as he pushes towards a professional career in the game 😄👍⚽️Fantastic work Cam, we are really looking forward to sharing more successes over the summer with you all ❤️⚽️❤️#upthereds ... He has faced criticism, the team have been labelled as ‘boring’ but we are through to another Euros Final. Harry Kane from a fans perspective, many believe his movement, effort and contribution has not been where it should be and their others who would do better.Well as Gareth said we have ‘1 more’, if we win tonight all these questions will not need to be answered as we will be European Champions, it is almost 60 years ago since our last major men’s tournament success and this will give the country and football another huge boost, like the women’s Euro success in 2022 did.Wishing all the best to England football team from all at Methley United AFC - we believe, it could be, it might do, Football is coming home ❤️⚽️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿⚽️❤️ ... Quite unbelievable, we have had goals broken over the years, damaged back bars and broken wheels due to them being used incorrectly or without care or consideration. Today though I think we have hit an all time low.We have spent many hours in the past week or so repairing and reseeding the goal areas and other bare patches to make sure our pitches are the best they can be for all players at Methley United AFC. Several volunteers have been down turning over the comoactcsoil, breaking it down and re-seeding it and then covering it with netting to stop birds and rabbits getting to it.Sadly we went down this afternoon to give it a water and the 7-a-side pitch near the entrance, every peg holding the netting in place has been broken - it looks like they have been kicked as scattered all over. Not only does this cost the club money, it also means we have had to spend hours today fixing it is protected from the rabbits and birds that would destroy these areas.CCTV is in operation so we will be checking footage - this is totally unacceptable and for those responsible please leave these areas alone, we are doing this for our players who want better pitches as lots of money and time has been put in to getting these up to scratch for September. If anyone sees any one causing damage to our goals or to the pitches please can you alert us through our FB page or if criminal damage please call 101 immediately.I took a few pics after starting to repair one area, there were over 100 damaged pegs in the area, as they have been kicked they have left small spikes in the ground which could cause injuries to players, it’s an absolute joke. ... Methley United people - if you're a fan of Methley United we are a fan of the Scarecrow Festival 🙌🙌Whether you are one of our amazing scarecrow makers, or someone that thinks it's right to try and keep traditions alive in these difficult times, especially happy and fun traditions that raise money for our good causes... please can I ask you to take a second to like and/or comment on my posts about it (on the Scarecrow Festival page or local community pages) over the next two weeks. Facebook just doesn't share things unless people engage (am betting it won't share this either...!), and I really really want the festival to be the success it always has been so it keeps going. We need people to know that trail maps are on sale, that we need baking donations, we need raffle prizes, and we could even do with volunteers to help at the event, and Facebook is how we tell them! Many thanks for your help lovely folk 🥰www.facebook.com/share/vDA6FQAe9hB46fGv/?mibextid=K35XfP ... See MoreSee Less
