MATCH REPORT — Methley Strikers U7s vs Normanton (Away)Methley Strikers travelled to Normanton and delivered one of their most complete performances of the season. From the opening whistle they pressed, passed, and powered their way through the game with confidence and togetherness. Goals came from all over the pitch, the work rate was outstanding, and every single player contributed to a dominant display.Below are the individual spotlights — and what a set of performances they were.PLAYER SPOTLIGHTSSebSeb set the tone early with relentless pressing high up the pitch, constantly winning the ball in dangerous areas. He grabbed two well‑deserved goals, including one from clever movement on a corner routine. Defensively he was his usual dependable self — calm, strong, and always in the right place.Jacob — Coaches’ Player of the MatchJacob got Methley off to a flyer with a first‑quarter hat‑trick. Three brilliant finishes, including a stunning free kick that had everyone applauding. His dribbling was sharp and confident throughout, gliding past defenders and creating chances. Fully earned the coaches’ award today.NathanielNathaniel looked hungry and full of belief, adding another composed finish to his growing goal tally. His movement into space and his marking were superb — showing real maturity and understanding of the game. A performance full of confidence.EllisEllis worked tirelessly for the team, closing players down and putting pressure on Normanton all over the pitch. His hard graft was rewarded with a brilliantly taken goal — clinical, calm, and leaving the keeper clutching at air. A proper team-first display.KyeKye delivered another consistently strong performance, putting in a huge shift and linking play superbly. He picked up multiple assists — genuinely hard to keep count — and capped it off with a well‑taken goal of his own. A crucial player in everything the Strikers did well.Albie — Parents’ Player of the MatchAlbie drove at Normanton with his trademark flair, always looking to bring teammates into play. A few early chances didn’t quite fall for him, but he showed brilliant resilience and kept pushing. His reward? Three clinical finishes and the parents’ vote for Player of the Match. A constant threat and fully deserving of the recognition.CharlieCharlie was a defensive warrior today — tackling hard, working tirelessly, and showing brilliant recovery speed. His standout moment came late on when Normanton broke through, only for Charlie to chase back and produce a superb last‑ditch tackle. Pure determination and heart.FinleyFinley put in a fantastic defensive shift, tackling hard and holding his position brilliantly to keep the team’s shape. He pushed forward looking for a goal and was unlucky on several occasions not to find the net. A crucial defender for the Strikers and a key part of today’s strong performance.SUMMARYMethley Strikers were simply too strong for Normanton today, combining clinical finishing with a real team ethic. The spread of parents’ votes — five different players receiving recognition — shows just how many contributed to the performance. Tougher tests lie ahead, and we’ll need to keep moving the ball quicker, but today was a brilliant example of what this group can do when they click.Well done, Strikers. A superb team display. ... Probably one of only a few league games taking place this weekend, but the U11 Girls Panthers were in action at Castleford Academy. The girls made a strong start against our opponents Durkar Devils, with the temperature only just above freezing they were keen to get moving. A couple of quick succession goals from Harper took the pressure off immediately and our super defensive lineup headed up by Captain Sophia kept the strong Durkar attacks to a minimum. Further goals from Methley’s striker Isla.S and midfielder Lauren put the girls in a comfortable lead. A great game of football to watch and considering it’s only the first season of playing for some of these girls, we can’t wait for what’s to come!Opposition’s player - Martha Captain’s player - Isla.C Coaches player - Lauren ... The u10 Panthers roared from the first whistle in a great game against Ossett Town Pearls, played at Outwood under a gorgeous blue sky (no rain!!).All nine contributed something special. The energy and voices kept going throughout and the coaches commented on the skill and effort on show all over the pitch. Smiles and tired legs all round, what a great team to watch!Goals came from Aurora (2), Alice, Ruby and Olivia. Penny had another commanding performance in goal. Shout out to Alice for lovely link up play with Aurora, her through balls setting up a couple of goals. Coaches’ player - Olivia 👏 Another all action game in a number of positions and which wow moment to cover first…the superb sprint back to clear off the line or the goal of the season contender from the half way line?!!! Parents’ player - Macey 👏Caught the parents’ eye with a wall like performance at the back and her pinpoint passing forward. Opposition player - Annie 👏Constant tackling to stop the opposition and drive the team forward. Absolutely great stuff Panthers ❤️🖤❤️ ... See MoreSee Less

🙌 FANTASTIC friendly with NEL (North East Leeds) this morning - we’re already looking forward to playing them again in the league next weekend. 😃 9 Methley Hawks showed up in top form today and, after adapting really well to the fast surface and frantic early tempo, the team settled nicely and took control of the game. 💪 The Hawks battled bravely for every ball and their passing improved throughout, summed up nicely by a brilliant team goal slotted home by Maisie. From another fine Lyla performance in goal to every outfield player, we couldn’t have asked for more and the continued selfless play is so good to watch!GOALS:Georgia ⚽️ ⚽️ Maisie ⚽️ Maria ⚽️ AWARDS:Parents: Nell 🏆 Coaches 1: Maria 🏆 Coaches 2: Thea 🏆 🦅 Have a fab weekend team!! 🦅 ... U9 Challenge Plate! It’s was an all Methley affair with the Methley Blacks hosting Methley Vipers in the first round of the Challenge Plate! It was a great day for football as the rain held off and the support was amazing. The game started quick and both teams got stuck in. We started getting the passing going and our defence were quick to the ball to neutralise any attack. During the first half, it was back and forth with some really great play from both teams. Goals from Noah and Max were scored. The second half we really kicked on. The passing was flowing and the goals continued. There was plenty of great play, tackles, and some great saves however the team really kicked up a notch and some goal from Max, Henry and Jack and power shots from Noah in the last 10 minutes meant we saw out the game finishing 7-3 and the Vipers through to the next round.Oppositions player of the match was Jack and coaches player of the match was Noah! Titans Firing on All CylindersThe Titans visited Sherburn today and delivered their performance of the season, the game was tight early on until Oscar broke the deadlock and then the floodgates opened, seeing the fans in raptures and the coaches in shock. It was great to have Oscar back in the squad, and he wasted no time making his presence felt. Some pacey breaks down the right caused constant problems for the opposition, and he added another goal ⚽ to his tally for the season.Sonny endured a bruising morning, taking a ball straight to the nose and bravely staying on the field. Unbelievably, straight from the restart he was hit again—this time a little lower—leaving him on the floor wondering what he’d done to deserve such luck. To his credit, he recovered well and finished the match with a thoroughly deserved goal ⚽.At the back, Tobias and Jude marshalled the defence superbly, with Corey safe as houses behind them, ensuring the scoresheet remained spotless in a fantastic defensive shutout.Riley covered every blade of grass and had promised the coaches a goal. It looked like that promise might go unfulfilled—until the final minute, when he calmly slotted past the keeper ⚽.👏 We also welcomed debutant Albie to the fold, and he didn’t disappoint. A very encouraging first outing, and one to watch going forward.Last but not least, reminiscent of a young Maradona, Harry had the ball glued to his feet all morning. A constant threat throughout, his standout performance saw him bag a brace ⚽⚽ and deservedly earn Man of the Match ⭐. ... See MoreSee Less

Methley Strikers U7s vs Wrenthorpe – Match ReportA lively home fixture for the Strikers, full of effort, determination and some brilliant individual moments. Wrenthorpe made them work, but Methley showed plenty of heart and flashes of real quality throughout.Player SpotlightsSeb – The Pitbull at the BackAnother trademark Seb performance: tough, fearless and completely committed. His tackling was outstanding again, and he’s getting stronger every week carrying the ball out from the back. The team really felt his absence in the final quarter — a sign of just how important he is to the defensive unit.Finley – The Sound‑Effect Tackling Machine (Coaches’ Player)Started steadily but grew into the game superbly. Every tackle came with its own dramatic sound effect, and every one of them counted. His recovery runs were excellent, shutting down danger and showing real awareness. By the end he was holding his position brilliantly. Fully earned Coaches’ Player.Nathaniel – Two Goals, Big ConfidenceGiven a more attacking role today and absolutely delivered. His first goal came from brilliant pressure on the keeper, showing hunger and quick reactions. His second was a thunderbolt in the last quarter — a proper screamer. Confidence is rising fast, and it’s showing in his play.Ellis – Safe Hands, Big EffortPulled off a really good save when in goal, showing bravery and focus. Outfield, he worked hard to get involved and kept trying to find the ball. A positive contribution in both roles.Kye – The Ultimate Team Player (Team‑Mate of the Match)A complete team performance. Kye was asked to do some tough minutes in defence to help make the Strikers harder to break down, and he did it brilliantly — strong tackles, smart positioning, total commitment. Still looked dangerous on the ball when he pushed forward. Then stepped into goal and had a great game there too. No complaints, no fuss, just effort and quality. Easy choice for Team‑Mate of the Match.Albie – Point Proven (Parents’ Player)Came into the game determined to respond after Saturday, and he absolutely did. Battled for everything, pressed relentlessly, and at times Wrenthorpe simply couldn’t get near him. Scored two well‑taken goals and created chances for others. A standout performance and fully deserved Parents’ Player.SummaryAnother match full of positives and clear areas to keep working on. The Strikers aren’t quite putting together complete four‑quarter performances yet, but they always look dangerous, always compete, and always play with heart. When it all clicks, this group will be a real handful. ... See MoreSee Less

Match Report - 08.02.2026Methley Lions U11s V Hyde Park U11s Firstly, shout out to Hyde Park. The pitch wasn’t great, but honestly one of the nicest and most respectful teams we’ve come up against this season - Proper credit to them. 👏 Back-to-back big wins for the boys!I expected our first game on grass to be a lot messier than it looked today, Despite the surface, we made good choices on the ball throughout and showed great composure across the pitch. so massive well done to everyone. That surface was not easy, but the lads adapted brilliantly.Communication was excellent across the pitch, with the lads constantly talking and supporting each other. The defence were strong all game, putting in great tackles and defending as a unit. Credit to the opposition as well, who played well and kept us on our toes throughout.Deacon was excellent, finding the side net with a well-taken goal.Freddie had a huge impact - debut goal followed by a debut hat-trick. Majus drove forward with the ball before setting up Bobby, who finished confidently. Bobby also delivered a quality corner that Maksim converted – off his knee, but they all count!Another corner saw Majus get on the scoresheet.Toby popped up out of nowhere with a fantastic shot that went over the goalkeeper and into the net.Henry pulled off a few worldie saves before an unfortunate bounce led to a goal to the opposition. With some big shoes to Logan stepped in and did a brilliant job for the team.👊MOTM goes to the whole team – a proper team performance from start to finish 💪Parents’ Player: Freddie ⭐Goals: • Bobby ⚽️• Freddie ⚽️ ⚽️ ⚽️ • Maksim ⚽️• Majus ⚽️• Toby ⚽️• Deacon ⚽️Voice of Coach: Big thanks to Logan for stepping up. I thought the lads coming off the bench were excellent today, especially Harrison, who probably played his best game yet for Methley.Special mention to go to Maksim’s goal - genuinely the best-looking accident I’ve ever seen ✌️I am still waiting for Bobby to take a bad corner - 100/100 accuracy this season so farOverall, another really convincing win. You should all be super proud of yourselves, boys 🙌 ... See MoreSee Less

Interesting read. Even the PL grounds were cutting up so not sure improved drainage on all grass pitches is realistic. The future in keeping people playing is more 3G facilities, this is why our passion for the big red project, enabling to own and manage our own 3G pitch in the local community is a must not a would like, without Outwood and Cas 3g facilities, we would have had 3 weeks of no games. The u9 Blackhawks welcomed Battyeford this morning for a league game in surprisingly pleasant conditions. The Blackhawks started at a fast pace as usual and caught their opponents off guard as they raced to an early advantage as Halle was on target again and Eliza punished some slow defending to stretch the advantage.Eliza then hit a post and Blackhawks kept pressing but couldn't extend the advantage. The game started to even up as Nola and Edie remained solid in defence. As the game approached half time, Evie was becoming influential down the right and causing problems with her tenacious defending and strong running.Isla was and remained the catalyst throughout the game with a superb display in the midfield as she spread the play, tackled and ran her heart out. The 3rd quarter found the blackhawks on the back foot and Alex was resolute in defence to help weather the brief storm. The 4th quarter came and Eliza continued to probe from the right hand side as she opened up the defence time and again but the finish never came.Maia was busy throughout the game and had some valuable contributions. As the game closed out with the blackhawks in the ascendancy a couple more chances came and went but a solid performance from the Blackhawks in alla aspects of the game.Parents player: NolaOpposition player: IslaCaptain: EvieGoals: Halle and Eliza ... A thriller from the u10 Panthers away at Rothwell Juniors Blacks. A thoroughly entertaining game with total effort from our whole pack 🐾 Shout out today goes to THE TEAM! The coaches asked the girls to think about how to support each other more on match day and they responded amazingly. The subs encouraged, communication on the pitch was better than ever and they worked hard as a unit. Quite a noisy bunch actually, the roar coming on for the final quarter was fabulous!! Goals came from Aurora (2), Bethany and Alice. At the other end there was a brave clearance off the line from Ruby and keeping skills from Penny and Grace. Coaches’ Player 🌟AURORA 🌟Meant business today! Determination, strength and cool finishes. Always had an eye on goal but prepared to get back and help start building forward play from the middle. Very nearly got her hat trick with a late disallowed goal!!!Parents’ Player 🌟 ANNIE 🌟The tenacious one! Speedy runs on the wings to get the team back on the attack. Her tackling was important to break up oppo play, great to see this week’s training focus coming to the game. Opposition Player 🌟OLIVIA 🌟Some sublime footwork from this one! Using her skills and strength to hold up play, created a lot for us and stopped a lot for them. Keep it up girls, that togetherness, work ethic and camaraderie will take you far.
