Match ReportMethley Lions V Leeds Hyde ParkDespite a slight slowdown after several strong weeks of performances, the boys showed great determination and produced some excellent moments of quality. The opening goal came from a corner delivered by Bobby which took a deflection off Faeley’s knee and found its way into the net. Bobby then added another himself with a well-taken strike.A lot of the play today was spent in defence, where the lads did brilliantly under pressure. Hyde Park caused problems with long punts forward and the middle of the park became very congested at times, making the game harder than it needed to be. Even so, the boys showed some excellent footwork in tight areas and managed to create chances. The goalkeeper was once again in top form, producing some fantastic saves to keep Hyde Park from achieving goals. In the second half the team started to play more like we are used to seeing, with good tactical thinking, smart passing, and better decisions on the ball. One standout moment came when Toby controlled the ball in midfield and played it through to Bobby, who finished well to score.Goals⚽ Bobby x2⚽ Faeley x1Assists🎯 Bobby – Corner🎯 TobyAwards🏅 Opposition MOTM – Bobby🏅 Parents MOTM – Henry W🏅 Coaches MOTM – Harrison (first one – well done, much improved!)Coach’s Voice: Overall it was a hard game, made challenging at times by some of our own decisions, but there were plenty of positives and some great individual performances across the pitch. ❤️ ... The u10s whites welcomed Ebor Gardens to Church Lane this morning. The boys soon got to grips with some of Ebor's trickier players and 2nd half in particular we played some excellent football. Riley made some great saves first half with one brilliant triple save in particular. Alex and Zach were strong in defence tackling and intercepting and closing down the opposition. Carter and jesse commanded the central defensive midfield role with composure and Jesse was unlucky not to score from his lovely run through midfield. Excellent work on the wings from Thomas, Joe and Aaron breaking at speed and putting some great crosses in and excellent passing between them and the strikers. Special mention to Aaron for his workrate tracking back and keeping the skilful opposition player quiet with his defensive work too. A fantastic display up front from Harry saw him score 4 very well taken goals which earned him player of the match but also linked the play with the midfielders extremely well too. Captain went to Zach for his solid defensive display and teammate to Thomas as chosen by the players. Goals scored by Harry x 4, Thomas x 2 and joe but excellent work from everyone who all played a part in a great performance ... See MoreSee Less

This morning Methley Warriors made the short trip to Swillington for what turned out to be a bruising encounter played at a furious pace.Methley started slowly and allowed their opponents to dominate the early exchanges but still remained dangerous in broken play. The quarter had plenty of chances and both teams came close but the game remained deadlocked as Isaac made some great saves and the boys got a well deserved break. The 2nd quarter was very lively as Swillington remained on top throughout the early exchanges but after some great battling by Teddy L, Reggie was on hand to prod home from close range. James was battling hard and finding a lovely range of passing. Then the pattern of the game was set... end to end and played at a frantic pace.Teddy L struck a left footed shot that arrowed into the corner following some unbelievable twists and turns as Swillington defenders didnt know where to turn! But back they came... at half time the boys got a rest and tweaked the game plan. The 3rd quarter came and George was immense in defence, block after block he repelled the waves of attacks and Henry S was able to capitalise with a quick fire brace as he raced through the defence and remained calm. The game continued to swing back and forth as Isaac caused havoc when up front, then came the highlight of the game... as a Swillington shot was trickling harmlessly wide..... Teddy G was not taking any chances as he threw himself across the goal, tipped the shot further wide in what can only be described as a Hollywood save of the highest order! As the game came to an end the boys kept battling but found themselves at a disadvantage but were not to worry as Teddy L hit a thunderbolt in the top corner with seconds remaining.. a beautiful ending to a crazy game that had everything..Parents player - GeorgeOpposition player - Teddy LGoals - Reggie, Teddy L, Henry SThe boys showed huge heart and determination throughout the game and the coaches are very proud of their efforts ... It’s all getting tight for the u18’s… a 2-0 win away at Stanley on a tough pitch keeps things interesting.. A fairly scrappy game which Methley fought hard to come away with the victory getting lucky on occasion with an excellent Stanley team hitting the post and bar.. We started brightly but then Stanley got into their stride and pressured Methley for a good 20 mins before a well worked goal for Arthur Whelpton eased some of that.. 1-0 at the break… message from the coaches was to keep playing like they can and communicate more… it seemed to do the trick and the second half was much better.. victory sealed mid way through the second half with an excellent header from centre back Alfie Land.. 2-0 final score.. special mention to keeper Zak Newton for keeping Methley in the game at times.. with games coming up against Brayton, Ackworth and West End it’s certainly shaping up to be an exciting end to the season… #muafc #upthereds ... ⚽ Match Report – Methley U15s 6–0 BattyefordThe Reds welcomed Battyeford to Methley today and, despite a slightly slow start while settling into some unfamiliar positions, the girls soon found their rhythm. Pippa doubled the lead within minutes after some great link-up play, before Becca battled strongly in midfield and picked her spot to make it 3–0. Niamh showed great determination to grab her first goal for the team, taking the score to 4–0.Strong play down the right from Mads kept the pressure on, with Belle chasing everything and being rewarded with Methley’s fifth. In the final minutes, Pippa sealed the win with an absolute worldie from just past the halfway line that dipped under the bar to make it 6–0.A brilliant team performance, especially in the second half. The u10 Panthers were the visitors at Rothwell Town today. It was the first game on grass for a while, good to get some mud on the boots!! The coaches asked for energy and the Panthers responded well with a strong couple of quarters where they pressed to great effect, the midfielders moved forward and back with real commitment and it was great to see the girls managing their own set pieces. The last two quarters lacked the earlier energy and focus and against a good side they let the game run away from them at times but overall plenty of positives to take, particularly from today’s award winners who both gave 100% every second they were on the pitch. 🌟 COACHES’ PLAYERBethany was a handful on the wing, strong tackling and great passes including an assist to set up Aurora’s goal. Never gave up and a solid teammate getting back to help recover when under pressure. Well played Bethany!🌟 PARENTS’ AND OPPOSITION PLAYEROlivia picked up both 🤩 On fire today, repeatedly the first to the ball and influenced the game from wherever she played with pure strength, silky feet and excellent defensive and attacking instincts. Superb Olivia! GO PANTHERS ❤️🖤❤️ ... See MoreSee Less

🔴⚽ Methley U10 Reds Match Report ⚽🔴These lads really know how to keep us on our toes… because clearly starting a game from 0–0 is just too boring for them! 😅Once the boys got into the game though, we saw some great teamwork, passing, and finishing. The attitude and effort was excellent and it was great to see the lads grow into the match and show what they’re capable of.🏆 Coach’s Player – FreddieAn absolute brick wall today. Brilliant at breaking up play and then getting us moving back up the pitch. A huge performance in the middle of the battle.🎖️ Parents’ Player – AaronPlayed with his usual passion and never-say-die attitude, popping up with some key goals when the team needed them most.🤝 Team Mate of the Match – OliverWorked tirelessly up and down the wing, played some great passes, and took his goals really well. Fantastic energy all game.Hopefully we can build on the way we finished the game and start the next one with that same intensity right from the first whistle.Up the Methley Reds Massive! 🔴⚽💪 ... Match Report: Riccall 0–6 Methley U13 WhitesIn what felt like our first game since 1996, the sun was finally out and Methley returned to the pitch with a worthy 6–0 victory away at Riccall. After a steady start, Methley’s opener came on the 5th minute, a superb lobbed ball into the box from Luca was knocked behind for a corner. Luca delivered a perfect cross which Dylan put into the Riccall net. Some superb wide play soon paid dividends, with Blake firing home Methley’s second of the game. The pressure continued to build as Oli R added a third, before Dylan grabbed his second of the match to cap off a dominant first-half display sending Methley into the break 4–0 up.Methley were quick out of the blocks again in the second half. More great wing play and a fantastic ball into the Riccall box was deflected into their own net, extending the lead to five.Riccall though never let their heads drop and came close to pulling one back on a couple of occasions, but Methley’s defence stood firm. Olly Y and Teddy were solid at the back helping Logan keep a deserved clean sheet. Blake then rounded off the scoring, netting his second of the match to seal a 6–0 win. There were standout performances all over the pitch. Lucas was again fantastic in midfield, Luca was a constant threat with his dangerous runs down the right wing and excellent deliveries into the box, also Archie whose performance earned him both the Coaches’ Player and Parents’ Player of the Match awards.A brilliant team performance and a perfect return to action for Methley. ... Methley Vipers U9 vs Amaranth Crossgates U9 Blacks - Match ReportToday was the quarter final of our U9 Challenge Plate journey against Crossgates Amaranth Blacks! Today we celebrated the life of Ella, from Rothwell Jnrs u10s and Wakefield AFC u10s, who sadly passed away of cancer. We held a minutes applause and our thoughts are with Ella’s family and friends. From the start, we played some great passes and defended well against a great Amaranth side. We held out until a great shot from Amaranth broke the stalemate. There was a lot of back and forth and lots of crossbar hits, with some stunning saves from Joel and the opposition keeper, Joel pulling off a double save one of the highlights of the half that also included a goal from H that deflected off a defender into the Amaranth net.Second half came along and once again the boys were strong and kept pushing and looking for their next goal but Amaranth were very strong on the attack and scored a couple of lovely goals. The boys kept their chins up and kept on pushing for another goal. That came from Noah taking a run down the right and shooting it past the Amaranth keeper. The game ended with a 5-2 loss but the boys played brilliantly, kept their heads up and showed a great account of themselves as a team.Goals:HenryNoahPlayers of the match:Opposition was given to Tomas, for his footwork, determination and dribbling.Coaches was given to Joel for his super shot stopping and some spectacular saves.Although it was a loss, the coaches are so proud of how they came out fighting. Good luck to Amaranth Blacks in the semi final! Well done Methley Vipers! ... See MoreSee Less

Methley Strikers U7s Away at Leeds Ajax – Match ReportMethley Strikers delivered a performance full of heart, energy, and proper U7s chaos‑magic away at Leeds Ajax. The lads worked their socks off from first whistle to last, showing bravery in the tackle, clever moments on the ball, and a real desire to play for each other. There were mistakes – as there always are at this age – but the commitment, effort, and flashes of real quality made it another hugely positive outing.⭐ Player SpotlightsSeb – Teammate of the MatchA warrior from start to finish. Seb threw himself into challenges, blocked shots with every part of his body, and showed brilliant bravery in defence. When he stepped into goal, he was calm, focused, and made some excellent stops. Another standout performance and fully deserving of Teammate of the Match.NathanielPressed high all game and caused Leeds Ajax real problems. His energy helped create chances, and he showed great awareness to set up Methley’s first goal with a well‑timed assist. A clever, hard‑working display.EllisWorked tirelessly for the team, constantly closing down opponents and putting in some strong tackles. His effort levels never dropped, and he helped keep Methley on the front foot with his determination.Kye – Parents’ Player of the MatchA fantastic all‑round performance. Kye covered every blade of grass, tackled with real strength, dribbled confidently, and capped it off with a brilliantly taken goal. His work rate and quality stood out throughout, earning him Parents’ Player of the Match.Albie – Coaches’ Player of the MatchA constant threat going forward. Albie battled hard, drove at defenders with pace and quick feet, and scored two excellent goals. He was inches away from a hat‑trick after smashing a long‑range free‑kick off the bar late on. A top‑class display and worthy Coaches’ Player of the Match.FinleySolid and dependable at the back. Finley defended bravely, made important tackles, and looked to play forward whenever he could. His decision‑making and willingness to build attacks were big positives.🔵 SummaryMethley Strikers put in a strong performance full of energy, work rate, and moments of real quality. They pressed well, battled hard, and showed great teamwork throughout. A few mistakes crept in – as they do at this age – but those will iron out over time. What can’t be questioned is their commitment, attitude, and desire to improve every week.Another proud day for the Strikers. ... See MoreSee Less

Both teams stood together in a touching show of respect — a proud moment that reflected real maturity from every player❤️From kick-off, Garforth Villa applied strong early pressure and proved to be tough opposition throughout.
