The Methley United Girls U9s (Lionesses, Pumas, Panthers & Wildcats plus the U7s made an appearance too so about 100 of us in total) did a takeover of Spinners in Methley. Fantastic day watching Man City vs Man Utd in the WPL - Women's Premier League. The girls put jumpers out for goalposts and played football (even though they all played in the morning!), ate pizza and had a lovely time. We feel extremely privileged to have this group of kids, parents and coaches in the club, helping us keep our little stars shining bright! ... See MoreSee Less

What a game to be part of today for U7 Whites at home to Yorkshire Amateurs. Firstly a big thank you to Josh for stepping in and reffing for us. Onto the game. We tried out a new formation today, and the kids listened and took onboard the instructions we gave them. The game was an evenly matched opening first half, end to end action and some absolute worldy saves from both keepers. The game pretty much carried on the same in the second half. Plenty of great teamwork and defending from our Whites. They really pushed on in the 4th quarter where again, the opposition keeper pulled off some brilliant saves and Noah scored a great goal all from his own battling.Super proud of these U7 Whites. Their bond is great to see.Opposition Player of the Match went to Arthur for his super goalkeeping.Parents Player of the Match went to Noah for his goal and great play. ... See MoreSee Less

This morning the U8s Whites hosted Middleton in what is always a tough game What a fantastic performance from everyone. Every single player played their part in a brilliant game of football and the team performance was one of the best we have seen. The boys are working hard for each other and the pressing and covering we have been working on is really showing in our matches now. Hard to pick any player out today as they were all amazing. A fantastic save from Freddie tipping the ball over the bar and a penalty save from Riley. Excellent defensive work and passing into space from everyone. 2 goals from Thomas (loving the goal celebrations), a fantastic free kick from Harry and a Penalty from Joe for the goals. Captain went to Harry and player of the match to Zach. Well done everyone! ... See MoreSee Less

⚽️ U12 Reds 🔴 played away this weekend v Askern Miners. The first half was strong, with a lot of play being in their half. We had a few attempts but unfortunately couldn’t get it in the net. After half time, AM managed to score 2 goals. We then had a corner, and kept play in the box until Theo tapped it in! Well done! The weather couldn’t make its mind up today, and the lads played through the sunshine, wind, rain and hailstone we had throughout. The game ended 2-1. This week's MOTM, Charlie G 🏆 for staying solid in the back! A few weeks off for the U12 Reds now, hope to get back to winning ways in the next match. ⚽️ ... See MoreSee Less

🙌 FANTASTIC, rollercoaster match for our Under 8s Girls (Blacks team) versus Brighouse in the spring sunshine on the cricket pitch this morning! 💪 We had worked a lot on our forward press, as well as defenders turning away from goal and passing into wide channels, and it was brilliant to see the girls successfully putting all the hard work into practice. 🤩 Carys, Penny and Zoey did exceptionally well with their passes into channels and staying clear of our danger areas, Bethany bossed the wing with some great dribbling runs and Phoebe was always available for a pass. 👌 Nell is rapidly becoming a very assured defender and continues to read the game so well for a girl who is new to the team. Penelope is another great recent addition to the squad and played with a big smile from start to finish. ⭐️⭐️ Our star strikers today were Brooke and Nora and each claimed two goals, linking well at every opportunity. They were deserved winners of the Parents’ and Coaches’ Player of the Match Awards respectively. It really was an epic and we’re all looking forward to the next match! ... See MoreSee Less

Morning everyone A lovely morning is expected this morning but a very a very busy morning at all our home grounds this morning. Church Lane is going to be busy with games kicking off at 9:30am, 10am and 11:30am, our neighbours Methley Warriors have also 1 game this morning at 10:30. As promoted yesterday to all coaches if people live near the pitches and are able to walk, bike or scooter please do so to keep cars on site to a minimum. Work to improve the overflow car park is nearly signed off which will see a better surface and increase capacity. Please do help us by reducing cars on the site until this work has been completed 👍This also applies to the cricket club pitch, if people live nearby the car park is limited so please help us by walking, biking or scootering to this facility if you are able to. If we can ensure like the visitors guide states that we avoid cars parking on Church Lane near the bus stop it would be greatly appreciated 👍For cars that have to overspill on to neighbouring streets, please park considerably and respect our neighbours to ensure they can leave their drives safely if they wish to get out. The pitches are looking fantastic for this time of year, despite the horrendous weather we have had and the number of games on the pitches.Enjoy your morning whether you at home or away - enjoy your games 😃⚽️👍 ... ⚽️ U12 Reds 🔴 played at home this weekend v Goole Town Tigers. With a change in our defence line up on this game, we unfortunately went 2 goals down as GTT had the opportunity off the mark but that only gave Methley the motivation to bring it back. Ollie scored a brilliant goal, followed shortly by an Oscar goal, get in!! We ended the first half on a 2-2 draw. The battle didn't stop in the second half, they scored, then Ollie scored another corker. Zak came on and played really well in his position and wouldn't let their winger get any balls across, brilliant performance! After another GTT goal, we regained possession but their player made a foul in their penalty box and the penalty was rewarded! Oscar lined up to take, and got it straight in the back of the net. Really tough game and we were pleased to come away with a 4-4 draw. This week's MOTM, Ollie🏆for some great play and making things happen on the pitch! Well done Methley! ⚽️ ... See MoreSee Less

A brilliant performance from the U8s Whites this morning on a difficult pitch. After going behind early on we fought back excellently with some fantastic pressing of the ball and using the space. All of the boys did a brilliant job with some last gasp tackles and goal line clearances and some great saves from Freddie and Riley in a very muddy goal. Goals from Zach, Carter x 2,Thomas x 2, Joe and Freddie. Player of the match went to Carter for his great forward play and goals and captain to Leo for an outstanding all round performance. Methley U10 Whites v Howden U10 RavensToughest opponent of the season to start the spring league, both teams played very good football, finding players in space and the game was played in the best spirit. Methley took control of the game in the second quarter and the midfield of Louie, Dylan, Leyton, Jake and Lucas deserve a lot of credit for that. Hugo was solid in goal and his distribution drove us forward quickly, and the defence of Issaq, Jack and Cobie had a lot more to do this week than in previous weeks and scrambled well. Another high quality display of forward play from Isaac, closing down their defence and keeper so quickly, finishing from very tight angles and linking up superbly with the midfield. Goals from Isaac 3, Lucas 2 and an OG. Player of the match was Leyton. ... See MoreSee Less

Public shout out for our u16s lads and coaches🚨Sportsmanship & Respect Praise 🚨The u16s progressing to the semi finals after a great result was pleasing but what was more pleasing was several parents from Elvington coming over at the end of the game saying thank you to Methley, the coaches and players for the huge sportsmanship shown throughout the game. A really good battle on the pitch but any foul, mis-timed tackle was greeted with an acknowledgement and a quick check on the players. Absolutely brilliant to hear and the reputation we want to have as a club, competitive but damn good human beings.Makes you proud when people go out of their way to recognise this.Well done to the u16s coaches Deano and Glen and all the u16s lads ❤️⚽️❤️ ... A great morning down at Saville park as our u16 reds took on Elvington in the quarter final of the cup.. a morning full of anticipation and a bit of apprehension as Elvington sit top of the league and the reds struggling to pick up points.. forgone conclusion eh? Well this team had other ideas.. the reds started off the better team pressing the Elvington defence.. however the reds found themselves 0-1 down from a breakaway attack.. not to worry, we are playing well… we stream forward again looking for an equaliser.. then bang on the break again we find ourselves 0-2 down after 15 mins.. hmm not good.. but we dust ourselves down and a minute later Oli Harvey plays a great ball through for Jack Taylor to latch onto.. with still a lot to do he finished with aplomb.. 1-2.. back in the game.. we continue to trouble the league leaders and got our just rewards when Josh Thorley hit a sweet strike from the edge of the box to equalise.. the league leaders were stunned.. we were bang up for this… the game started to even out and Elvington pressed and found another goal.. 2-3 down at the break… team talk at half time everyone was in agreement we would go out and win this… The reds were playing the better football through the second half, but we couldn’t find a finish.. 15 mins to go the coaches decide to change things and switch formations.. nearly bringing instant success… with 10 mins to go Jack T was through on goal and the defender clipped him - penalty ref??? Given.. Jack picked himself up and calmly slotted in the equaliser.. scenes on the touchline.. we are heading for extra time… however Alfie Land had other ideas when his cross/come shot found its way into the net with 3 minutes left.. Get in 4-3 up against the league leaders… can we hold on for the win!! Yes we could… what a performance from an unbelievable group of players.. onto the semi final now - can we retain the trophy we won last season… let’s see #upthereds #muafc ... See MoreSee Less
