U8 Vipers vs Alverthorpe Blues U8Well Storm Daragh couldn’t stop us making the short trip over to our friends at Alverthorpe on Sunday. Tough conditions for both teams, but neither team let those conditions get the better of them, and were all proper warriors.Plenty of great play from both sides, great goals, saves, tackles, goal line scrambles, the game had the lot. Most of all though, a game played the right way, with kids enjoying football (again, despite the conditions)Goals for Vipers today came from;HenryJackTomasAnd players of the match went to;Coaches: Lucas for his great defending and pressing of the ball.Opposition: Arthur for his goalkeeping

When you let Gen Z write your match report.Yo, Friday night had us all crossing fingers, toes, and even hitting the skibidi to summon the weather gods. Storm Darragh? Nah, we told him, “Not today.” The weather pulled through, and boom—GAME. ON.U12 Whites rolled up to Holme Rovers with max rizz after last week’s fire game against the top dogs. Pre-game huddle? Simple. “Play like you’ve got that arura. Straight out the gate, max rizz, no slacking.” The lads nodded. They knew the vibe.Game kicks off, and wow, both teams came out swinging. But let’s be honest, Methley wasn’t just playing football—we were creating art. First half? PURE CHAOS. Blake, Corey, Lucas, and Charlie all bagged goals like it was light work. The vibes were immaculate, teamwork was on point, and halftime hit with us cruising 4-0.Halftime chat? “Keep that skibidi flow, lads. Don’t let the vibes drop.” And guess what? The boys said, “Bet.” Second half? It was like the lads unlocked ultra-instinct. Calm. Controlled. Straight up oozing arura. They weren’t just kicking the ball; they were conducting a symphony of through balls, one-twos, and absolutely filthy passes. The sixth goal? A literal movie. Lucas, midfield sigma, snags the ball and hits a chef’s-kiss pass to Luca on the wing. Luca? Man went full skibidi turbo, sprinted down the wing like he was being chased by the universe itself, then slid the ball to Corey for the easiest tap-in of his life. Straight-up football poetry. VAR? Nah, don’t need it. Too clean. But let’s talk teamwork. These lads weren’t just playing for themselves; they were playing for each other. Someone out of position? Instantly covered. Encouragement flying everywhere like confetti. Pure unfiltered squad goals.Final whistle: 8-0. Yeah, you read that right. Methley = rizz overload. Goals? Blake (1), Corey (3), Lucas (2), Charlie (1), Luca (1).Awards Section:Parents’ Player: Luca. Energy unmatched, pure skibidi legs, and a goal so outrageous it made the opposition question their life choices.Coaches’ Player: Lucas. Midfield boss, passing maestro, and the arura king himself. Nobody could touch him.Final thoughts? BIGGEST W. Methley FC, dripping in sigma vibes, leaving everyone else in the dust. Proud is an understatement. GG, boys. 🚀🔥

The U9 Panthers played Featherstone Flyers away this morning. Absolute fair play to the players of both teams who definitely grumbled about the weather less than the spectators did! It was a closely fought game with some fantastic spells from Methley. Great energy at the start which petered out a little but that was understandable as the rain switched to horizontal!! Aurora and Alice looked particularly on form today and picked up the coaches’ and parents’ awards respectively. Calm and intelligent play from them both brought a lot to the overall team performance including goals with Aurora netting two ⚽️⚽️ and Alice scoring a superb solo effort ⚽️ Then… it was the social event of the year, the Panthers’ Christmas Party🎳 A lovely opportunity for players and families to spend some time together without woolly hats and umbrellas, great team bonding and a super start the festive celebrations. An all-round fabulous day with this lovely team. Go Panthers ❤️🖤❤️

🦅 BRILLIANT match for the Hawks against Ponte Collieries today. We braved the elements and were rewarded with a hugely entertaining game which swung this way and that.I think we saw exactly what the Methley girls were made of today and they should be incredibly proud of the resolve shown right to the end. Saskia was a non-stop threat to Ponte and added 4 more goals to her growing tally - including two stunners this morning!Lyla was also on the scoresheet and her all round efforts including half the game in goal meant she was awarded Coaches’ Player of the Match. Keep smiling and loving it all! Great to see. Violet played a superb role primarily in defence, our last line on so many occasions and a true rock for the team. Her Parents’ Player of the Match award was so well deserved. Nora and Maria played mainly in midfield and were extra brave in every part of the game. Their positional sense continues to impress. Bethany dribbled her heart out and found some accurate passes, while Freya never stopped trying and showed some skilful turns in tight spaces. Phoebe is building a fine understanding of her role in the team too which is fantastic. Onwards and upwards girls! Time to get warmed up!

Howden 1 - 4 Methley u14sOur u14 boys made the long trip over to Howden yesterday for a 'top of the table' clash. From the off, it was a good game of football, seeing our boys pen the opposition in their own half for the majority, missing a few half cut chances in the process. But, you guessed it, Howden took the lead with a break away goal. We've come accustomed to this never give in attitude from the lads, and that showed, when, 5 minutes later, a well worked corner saw a brilliant cross from Dyl into Oscars path and into the top corner. 1 all, game on. Tails were up, and the engine was purring. We approached half time at deadlock until the determination and solo brilliance from Kodi put us in front, 2-1, half time. We'd never really played our game in the first half, a bit of patience and keep the ball needed in the 2nd half.Start of the 2nd half, Howden were awarded a penalty, their striker stepped up, and all we can say is what a save by Ozzy 👏 brilliant. That woke us up and we started playing our stuff, pinging it about making Howden chase us down, when again, the ever energetic Kodi made it 3-1 with another solo goal to put daylight between us. Our game was wrapped up by the brilliant chip over keeper by none other than CB to put the stamp on the letter and send us home with the 3 points.Kodi ⚽️⚽️CB ⚽️Oscar ⚽️M.O.M - Kodi and OzzyAs always, please give our player sponsors pages a like and share, let's give something back to them, like they have done us ❤️⚽️Jordan Safety Services LimitedGarforth Security KW BuildersWilson's SolictorsFreedom 2 Dance Ltd GH TilingZest CateringLovely Lashes5 Towns Roofing and Guttering1st class Roofing and Scaffolding ServicesOne Stop Stores

An away trip to an unbeaten, top of the league Tockwith for us today, messages pinging round the boys WhatsApp group “we’re gonna get hammered this and we’re gonna get hammered that” but fair to say we were far far from that today. The match started brightly with some great football from both teams. For the first 10-15 minutes you could agree, Methley were actually the better of the two. Putting together some great passing moves, midfield dominated by Luca and Lucas and again Oliver safe as houses in CD fizzing balls up the pitch. Logan as ever, sun blazing in his eyes pulled off some cracking saves and great instinct knowing when to come for the ball or stay on his line. Undeservedly though, midway into the first half, Tockwith took the lead via a dubious goal, was he off, was he not? Ref said not, goal stood so 1-0 Tockwith. Credit to the boys though they didn’t let the scoreline discourage them and continued to press, determined to get an equaliser before half time. Unfortunately it was not to be and we found ourselves 1-0 down going into the break. Comments from the boys were “these aren’t even that good”We agreed that boys were well in the game and they took the field in the second half full of confidence firmly believing we could nick a win. It was end to end again, both teams looked dangerous but Methley dominated, corner after corner but still no way past a solid Tockwith back line. Corey created himself some space and let one rip, heading for top bins but how their keeper saved that I’ll never know... did they have Clark Kent in goal? 🤯Jake was great in defence again, backed up by Oliver returning from the bench made hard work for Tockwith. Oliver being awarded our first ever yellow card. Harsh call? Probably so but he showed the ref respect, took it on the chin and played on (we know he was buzzing really)Against the run of play, Tockwith tapped one home from a corner making it 2-0 with 10 to play suring up the win. The boys never gave in, despite knowing the game was done we stuck in there and ended the game there at 2-0. I will add it was a great team performance today with the boys showing each other lots of encouragement and spurring each other on. They should all be very proud of their efforts and performance today 🥳🏆 Coaches player: Cooper who is getting better and better every week. 🏆 Parents player: Lucas for a solid performance in midfield Thank you to the parents who made the long trip out this morning and supporting the boys. Next week is another away one where we travel to Holme Rovers. Hopefully see you all there ☺️

Match Report: Methley United Lionesses vs West End BluesWhat a performance from the Lionesses! After an early West End goal, the defensive duo of Renae and Ellie shut the door, with Freya unbeatable in goal. Midfielders Lola, Chloe, and Gabby drove the team forward, with Ella and Emma creating constant threats upfront.Emma’s clinical finish from Ella’s perfect pass earned us a well-deserved point in a hard-fought match. Another exciting game this morning at Methley Primary School for the U9s Panthers in the winter sunshine! The opposition, West End Terriers, were well organised from the off but, despite the heavy pitch, Methley created numerous chances culminating in goals from Elle with a low fizzer from distance, a trademark power finish from Aurora and a nicely placed low strike from Macey after a good team build up.The girls continue to improve their game craft and are now starting to manage and organise each other on the pitch themselves - it is fantastic to see their development in this respect.Girl of the Game was Penny for her incisive tackling and really listening to instruction and the Parents’ award went to Elle for her composure and moving forward with the ball so well. Go Panthers!! ❤️🖤

🦅 Under 9s Girls HAWKS report:⭐️ A fine effort from the girls today in a challenging away match with Ryburn United. 😃 We had lots of fun in the winter conditions - before, during and after full-time - and more importantly continued to build on our positional play and all-round teamwork. 🏆 Maria was awarded Parents’ Player Of the Match after a standout performance from her today, particularly breaking up play in midfield and distributing forward with pace and accuracy. 🦊 We have introduced a ‘Fox in the Box’ concept which the girls love and our forwards are trying really hard to make quick movements into dangerous areas to create excellent chances for each other. 💪 Saskia and Lyla showed brilliant physicality and helped Methley work together with some good organising and communication too. 🤩 Iyla was superb again today, particularly in goal late on when she made two OUTRAGEOUS saves from clear goal scoring opportunities.⚽️ Freya is working hard on tactical positioning and did a sterling job throughout. Her close control in tight areas was a real asset to the team. 🏆 Bethany’s dribbles into attacking areas and Nora’s solid defending also contributed, but our Coaches’ Player of the Match was Phoebe, who quietly went about her business in a controlled fashion. Her spacial awareness was outstanding and she put into practice everything we had discussed before the match. 🙌 Well done everyone, great resilience today!

Coach’s Player 🏆⚽️ PollyPolly was solid in defence and went in for every tackle she possibly could, staving off the opposition.Super team work girls 👊⚽️⚽️🦁

Methley U9 RedsOutstanding performance this morning and what a start to the new league, great to see everything we’ve been working on training really paying off. We’re becoming more of a team every week and that is really showing in our performances, every single player is bringing something different to the team and it’s fantastic to see the confidence growing in some of our previously more timid players. Parents and coaches player could have gone to quite a few players this week however one player really stood out today picking up both awards, Louie played with the most confidence I’ve seen from him today. He was running with the ball putting in tackles and picked out some great passes, his hard work paid off with a cracking goal (with his weaker right foot) welll done mate!! Big shout out to the parents as well, absolutely fantastic to have the opposition compliment how supportive we were to both teams and showing what we’re all about at methley!!Bring on next week with 2 games and plenty football!!!

No games today, a chance to reflect on what we want to be as a club, on the pitch, on the sidelines and to see if we can do our little bit to stop the rot in the grassroots game.A really good video from the FA, watch it, reflect and take action now if you are one of the embarrassing ones in this video. Football is for all, football is fun and football should be memorable for all the right reasons. Let’s do our bit, if we all do this then we will be the club we want to be, on and off the pitch ⚽️❤️⚽️
