Losing in football stings—no way around it. But it teaches resilience. Every loss is information: what didn’t work, where we were exposed, what we can sharpen next time.![]()

U9 Match Report
Methley Vipers vs Hall Green Blacks![]()
Today we had our final league game of the U9 season, welcoming Hall Green Blacks to Church Lane in the glorious sunshine. ![]()
The first quarter was quite a tight affair, end to end with some great saves by both keepers.![]()
From the second quarter the game really opened up, our Vipers really found their voices and feet, passing around well and really working for each other. ![]()
The whole second half, was more of how we performed from the second quarter, controlling the game from midfield and the defence doing what they needed to when called upon.![]()
Goals today came from;
Harrison
H
Joel
Noah
Tomas![]()
Player of the Match;
Opposition went to Harrison, who has really owned the CM position and scored an absolute peach towards the end of the game.![]()
Coaches went to Max. Got himself an assist, but has really improved over the last few games, especially with his confidence. He was really vocal today which was great to hear.

Methley U11 girls Panthers played their penultimate home game of the season this weekend against Ackworth Whites.
What a great game it turned out to be! ![]()
Methley came out swinging with multiple chances from the offset. Midfielders Lauren and Tilly were putting the pressure on and keeping the ball in the Ackworth half.
A solid defensive line up from Martha, Fran and Captain Sophia stopped Ackworth in their tracks throughout the first half giving our goal keeper Leah very little to do.
Isla.C was playing her role well, getting the ball forward to striker Isla.S only to be denied multiple times by the very competent Ackworth goal keeper.
The only Methley goal of the game came from the wing, a long range shot towards goal from Harper found its way into the net. On the opposite wing Alex was running her socks off playing balls through the gaps to the forward players. The passing and vision the girls had in this game was brilliant, they have all worked hard this season to improve. ![]()
A really enjoyable game of grassroots football played by both teams, full credit to Ackworth who always give us a game and are a great bunch of girls. ![]()

Match Report: Methley U15 Girls vs North East Leeds (Away) 1-2 ![]()
It was an early start for Methley U15 Girls on a beautiful sunny day, and the team came out strong from the first whistle. The girls showed quality across the pitch, linking up with lovely one-two passing, delivering dangerous crosses, and driving forward with purpose while pressing relentlessly for possession. Every player demonstrated determination, passion, and a real sense of teamwork.![]()
North East Leeds’ goalkeeper proved to be a formidable presence, dealing confidently with a series of corners and crosses as Methley piled on the pressure. The breakthrough came just before the 10-minute mark when, from a goal kick, Aillie controlled the ball brilliantly and played it through to Poppers, who calmly lifted it over the advancing keeper into the far corner to give Methley a deserved lead.![]()
Methley continued to create chances throughout the half but were unable to extend their advantage despite their dominance.![]()
The second half saw Methley facing the added challenge of playing uphill, but their intensity and composure remained. Niamh was outstanding in the middle, showing quick feet and control, though she was repeatedly denied by an inspired goalkeeper who pulled off several excellent saves.![]()
North East Leeds managed to level the score with a counterattack, aided by an unfortunate bounce that looped over Methley’s keeper. Undeterred, Methley responded with resilience and determination. Their efforts were rewarded when Belle delivered a superb pass across goal to Kadie, who made no mistake in slotting home the winner.![]()
A fantastic team performance full of energy, skill, and togetherness—well done to all the girls! ⚽️ ❤️

Methley Utd U13 Whites 🔵 7 - 0 Holme Rovers 🟠![]()
Methley U13 Whites produced a commanding away performance to secure a 7 - 0 victory over Holme Rovers, dominating from the very first whistle.![]()
With only two minutes gone, Oliver R opened the scoring in style, firing a strike into the top corner from outside the box. Methley continued to pile on the pressure, and only two minutes later Jake doubled the lead. A cleverly worked short corner led to a dangerous ball across the face of goal, which Jake calmly slotted home.![]()
Holme Rovers showed resilience and managed to hold firm for a spell, but Methley’s quality shone through again in the 25th minute. Luca picking up the ball inside his own half and fantastic on a solo run down the right wing before finishing superbly to make it 3–0.![]()
Methley’s fourth came just before the break, Corey reaping the reward for relentless Methley pressure saw an error from the Holme goalkeeper, allowing him to slot home and give Methley a comfortable 4 - 0 lead at half time.![]()
Holme looked to have come out fighting in the second half and nearly found a breakthrough, only to see their effort drift just over the crossbar. However, Methley quickly reasserted control. In the 41st minute, Jake grabbed his second of the game after a superb through ball from Blake sent him one on one with the keeper, and he made no mistake making the score 5 - 0. ![]()
Methley showed no signs of fading. On 57 minutes, more pressure resulted in another corner. Luca delivered an excellent ball into the box, where Oliver Y rose highest to head home Methley’s sixth.![]()
The scoring was rounded off in the 65th minute with another great team move, finished confidently by Oli S to cap an impressive attacking display.![]()
It was a complete team performance from Methley, solid at the back and clinical going forward, with goalkeeper Logan securing another well earned clean sheet.![]()
Jake’s standout display earned him both the coaches’ player of the match award, while the parents’ vote was shared between Oliver Y and Jake![]()
Well done Methley 🔵⚫️

The u10 Panthers hosted Battyeford Belles Blues at the Outwood pitch. The sun was shining, there was even some chatter about it being “too hot” … surely not!! … certainly less big coats on the sidelines ☀️ ![]()
A fully energised and ready-to-go attitude from the Panthers before the whistle didn’t quite materialise in the match itself and they didn’t seem to fully click today. Highlights were the talkers on the pitch keeping communication going, some nice passing and so many of the girls involved in creating chances and looking to score.![]()
Well done to Macey and Alice who both made the scoresheet ⚽️ ![]()
A shout out to sportsmanship today. Four of the Panthers stepped up to cover the goalkeeper position for Battyeford to ensure the match could go on. Grace, Elle, Annie and Bethany you showed what we’re all about at Methley and you each put in a great stint in goal, making great saves against your own team! ![]()
Bethany impressed across the whole game and took BOTH the Coach and Parents’ Player awards as a result. A real bright spark, loads of energy and determination to win balls. She had a big impact on the game. Particularly loved that pounce on the oppo’s corner, took the ball and sprinted up the wing to put us straight back on the attack. Great stuff👏 ![]()
Annie was the opposition’s pick, also brought an energy to our game, great battling for the ball and excellent passing👏 ![]()
See you next week Panthers. Let’s go ❤️🖤❤️

Methley Lionesses U9s took a 30 min trip down the M62 to play Battyeford. (Closest team in our division 🤷🏻♂️)
A very tough and evenly matched contest between 2 very even sides, as proven with there only been 2 shots in the 1st 2 quarters.
The lionesses kept on battling all the way to the end as the weather got hotter and never gave up.
Big thanks to Eliza and Isla from the Blackhawks for stepping in and helping the team as we was short of a few players. Both did that good they was given joint opposition coaches player of the match.
And another thank you goes to Skyla who stepped up and offered to go in goal for the entire game with never playing there ever. Some good saves from her and also her teammates who motivated and encouraged her which was great to see. Skyla picked up parents player of the match.
Go again next week 🦁
Well done lionesses

The U10s Whites travelled to Garforth Juniors this morning and what an absolutely brilliant game of football it was. One of our best ever team performances. Every player in the pitch was outstanding and played for the team. Completely unselfish play throughout with some fantastic decision making resulting in great team goals. Everyone looked composed on the ball and took time to find the right pass. There were times in the 2nd half where we passed the ball brilliantly between the defenders and then through midfield for a clinical move forwards. We trusted our teammates and the football was a joy to watch. Riley made some outstanding saves in goal, especially 2nd half, James, zach and Ethan were solid and composed in defence and Alex and Jesse did a superb job in the central defensive midfield role. Fantastic work on the wings from Aaron, Joe and Thomas driving us forward and linking up so well together and also with Carter up front who terrorised defenders with his strength and clever play. Goals came from Aaron with a hatrick, 2 for Carter and one each from Thomas and Jesse but all were a result of amazing build up play from the rest of the team as well as some clinical finishing. The highlight of the morning was the teamwork, togetherness and sportsmanship from the whole team. They were talking to each other throughout, encouraging each other if something didnt go to plan and praising each other when they did something well with high fives all round. Also the sportsmanship when the opposition player got injured in checking he was ok deserves a special mention. Player of the match to Zach and captain to James for their fantastic defensive work and composure in moving the ball forward. teammate chosen by the players went to Carter.

**U9 GAME REPORT**
Methley Vipers vs Rothwell Jnrs Blacks![]()
Today our Vipers welcomed Rothwell Juniors to Church Lane for a local derby clash. Always close, well fought games between the two of us.![]()
First quarter our Vipers were under pressure, and defended really well. Second quarter we found our feet and voices, and started to play around well, with plenty of shots, saves and passing on display.![]()
Second half was more of Q2, the post coming to Rothwell’s aide. Vipers really started to kick on and they were able to try out a corner routine they’d been working on which finally came off for them.![]()
Overall, a great team performance by the lads. They all worked hard for each other.![]()
Goals today came from;
Jack
Noah
Tomas![]()
Players of the Match;
Opposition went to Harrison, who again controlled the game in the centre and got some really good tackles in to break up play.![]()
Coaches went to Jack, who was an absolute rock at the back, and scored an absolute thunderbolt of a goal from a corner.

🏟️ Methley Strikers U7s vs Colton – Match Report![]()
Methley Strikers produced a phenomenal performance at home to Colton — fast, disciplined, brave, and full of pure footballing quality. From the first whistle they looked sharp, hungry and completely switched on. Every single one of the seven boys delivered their best football of the season.![]()
🌟 Player Spotlights![]()
Seb – Parents’ Player of the Match
Seb was an absolute rock at the back.
He won tackle after tackle, even when Colton doubled up on him, and every time he hit the ground he bounced straight back up with real heart. One tackle in particular — strong, clean, perfectly timed — left Colton’s number 9 knowing he was in for a long morning.
He also played some lovely forward passes to get Methley moving. A brilliant defensive display and rightly recognised by the parents.![]()
Nathaniel – Assist of the Match
Another superb outing from Nathaniel, who is showing huge maturity in his positional play.
He worked back tirelessly, battled for everything, and took his goal with real confidence — that clean ball‑striking ability shining through again.
Coach Phil’s favourite moment came when he picked the ball up in midfield, lifted his head early, and threaded a gorgeous through ball for a teammate to finish. A proper playmaker’s assist.![]()
Ellis – Team Mate of the Match
Ellis came out today like he’d been fed raw meat for breakfast — relentless, physical, and full of energy.
He put in strong tackles, linked play nicely, and then produced a brilliant shift in goal. Brave off his line, quick reactions, and a couple of outstanding saves that kept Methley in control.
His teammates recognised the graft — fully deserved.![]()
Kye – Coaches’ Man of the Match
Kye was simply on fire.
He set the tone early with his strength, pressing and desire, and then smashed in a first‑quarter hat trick that gave the Strikers huge momentum. Every finish showed composure and class.
Even after scoring three, he didn’t switch off — he worked for the team from start to finish. A complete performance.![]()
Albie – Hat‑Trick Hero
Albie drove at Colton relentlessly with his trademark fast feet and fearless dribbling.
He showed real skill and quality, constantly putting defenders under pressure and refusing to be stopped even after taking a few hefty tackles.
His three goals were fully earned — a brilliant attacking display.![]()
Jacob – Defensive Steel & Attacking Threat
Jacob looked great again today, adding real steel to the Methley back line.
He won the ball repeatedly, then used his dribbling and passing range to turn defence into attack. Mixed up his play beautifully — sometimes driving out, sometimes picking passes — and capped it off with three brilliant goals of his own.
A complete all‑round performance.![]()
Charlie – The Cleaner
Charlie worked tirelessly for his team, often finding himself as the last man — and he handled it superbly.
He pressed, tackled, and made life difficult for Colton every time they tried to break. He mopped up danger repeatedly and kept Methley on the front foot.
A really strong, disciplined performance.![]()
📣 Summary – A Performance That Eclipsed All Others![]()
The last time the Strikers faced Colton, it felt like their best performance of the season.
Today completely eclipsed it.![]()
This was a proper team effort — seven kids playing ace football, all delivering their strongest displays by a country mile. Everything clicked:![]()
- Discipline off the ball
- Teamwork on the ball
- Quality in possession
- Tenacity and heart in every duel![]()
The momentum this group has built is incredible, and you can feel the confidence growing week by week. Against a really good Colton side, they didn’t just compete — they controlled the game.![]()
The coaches couldn’t be prouder.
A brilliant day for the Strikers.
