Fantastic start to the cup for the Methley ladies with a 12-0 win against featherstone academical We stepped up from our usual 9 a side games to a massive 11 a side game (and when I say massive I mean fleet lane massive 😳) The ladies took it all in there stride and from the off looked comfortable with the new found space on the pitch, lots of great passing and working as a team resulted in some fantastic well taken goals. Impossible to pick a player of the match as everyone contributed equally, showing what a strength in depth we have in our squad.Bring on the next round!Goals from Freya, Ella, Zoe and Lauren ❤️🤍❤️🤍 ... Just wanted to mention the u15’s section this season… we have 2 Saturday teams and 1 Sunday team… covering approx 35 kids and 7 coaches… top of the league in two leagues and a couple of points off top in the other (with 2 games in hand) and all still in their respective cups.. the lads are playing some of the best football seen from this group and playing with smiles on faces… it can be a difficult age for both players and the coaches.. but the lads are a pleasure to coach, all get on brilliantly and are hungry for success… keep going lads and am sure the end of the season will bring some silverware (fingers x’d for a clean sweep of all 6)… #upthereds #muafc ... Another great game from under 9’s this morning ⚽️Outstanding performances from everybody and the entire team really had to dig deep with only having one sub. Dominated the majority of the game but had to withstand the late pressure from Howden when our lads started to tire. Player of the match was Cobie who had a great game all round, especially in the last quarter! 🌟 ... See MoreSee Less

Evening allFor all those at home tomorrow (Sat 28th) with 9 games at home it’s going to be a bit busy, especially at change over times. If we can please ask parents/carers if they live local and are able to walk, bike or scooter to the fields then this will be a huge help. The weather is due to be nice so if we can reduce traffic a little bit on site it will make things safer for everyone.ThanksChris 😄⚽️👍 ... See MoreSee Less

A bit of a reflectionOnly a few years ago, 100% of our coaches were male, within the committee we only had 2 females representing the club, forward the clock to now and I’m delighted that we now have 5 female coaches now working with teams across the club and half of the core committee are now females. Football in the village has evolved - just over 5 years ago we did not have any all girls teams and within the club we only had 1 or 2 girls playing, forward wind to now and we have 6 all girls teams from U7s to u12s and we have a very successful ladies setup which is growing incredibly. Combined with our u5s and u6s we have well over 100 females now playing the beautiful game and this is literally growing week by week. Not so long ago we struggled to get 5 players to form a 5-a-side team in the U7s, now we are seeing incredible numbers of players in our mini lions (u5s/u6s), over 50 boys and girls coming through and helping form multiple teams each year in the various leagues across the county.Looking on the registrations within the club we have around 500 players now within the club who play at 1 of our 3 sites in the village or at our partnership site at Fleet Lane where our Vets and ladies play. We are not stopping there, we have huge plans to improve our facilities at all our sites, to increase number of teams from the current 34 teams to over 40 in the next few years. We are proud to represent our village, we are proud to represent our members and we are proud to be having such a positive impact on so many lives.Let’s keep up the momentum and ensure Methley United AFC is the greatest grassroots football team it can be ❤️⚽️❤️⚽️Now is the time to join this thriving village football team, whether this is as a player, a coach or volunteer, if you want to join our fun and friendly club please feel free to get in touch ❤️⚽️❤️⚽️#upthereds ... Happy Monday everyone, we have now over 1300 followers of our village football club on Facebook this is another huge step forward for Methley United AFC. The unbelievable growth of the club in terms of overall teams, players and coaches over the years has been staggering. We would never have believed that in 5 years, we would have gone from no female teams to now having 7 female teams, 1 ladies team who are topping the female development league, 1x U7s, 2x u8s, 2x u10s and 1 x u12s. In the next 5 years we project to have teams from U7s to open age with of course our mini lions producing the foundation to allow this growth. We are re-structuring our committee and developing brand new roles if ever there was a time to get involved with Methley united to help us push further with our growth plan, this is the ideal time. Lots of roles within the club please get in touch if you are keen to be part of this amazing journey.#upthereds ... See MoreSee Less

Methley Ladies continued their 100% record in the league with a 5-0 win against Rothwell, with goals from Adele, Ange (2) and Freja (2) fantastic team performance against a well structured rothwell team. Methley took the lead early on with a corner from Laura headed in at the back post by Ange, the game then stayed tight and we went into half time at 1-0. Early in the second half Adele made a strong challenge winning the ball and then drove through the defence to hammer the ball into the bottom left corner, next came a well worked Freekick from Adele chipped in to Ange at the front of the keeper who then turned and slotted it away. The game then became more open with rothwell having to commit forward to get back into the game, this resulted in more open space in midfield with lots of quick passing through the midfield allowing Freja to break free and get the forth goal. The final goal came in the last few minutes with a quick goal kick putting Freja through one on one with the keeper with was only ever gunna result in a certain goal. Fantastic team performance and some great defending and forward passing from Sonya in defence gave her a well deserved MOTM, with Angela getting opposition MOTM ... See MoreSee Less

A fantastic start to 2023 for the u7 whites with another impressive performance this morning. The boys are improving every week both individually and as a tream. The team spirit they are developing and the way they support each other makes us really proud. Also loved receiving comments from the opposition coach this morning that we created a lovely playing environment with our parents/carers enouraging both teams. The future looks bright for this fabulous group. ... See MoreSee Less

Good luck to all teams in action today at home or away. Remember if you are playing at home, our coaches will inform you of the kick off times and the meet times. The meet time is usually 30 mins before the game so players can warm up and have a chat with the coaches prior to the game. With the New Year upon us, I would like to remind everyone that coaches arrive at least 30 minutes before the meet time to ensure the pitches are setup and ready to go, if parents could be kind enough to help our coaches and also turn up earlier to put out the goals, the respect barriers and corner flags this would be a huge help to them and their children. At the end of the game especially in the winter it’s nice to get in the car and go home, please do think about our coaches though who will spend another 30 mins clearing everything away and locking up before they get hone to their families.2023 is a New Year and a real chance for more people to help and support our fantastic coaches.Let’s make it a year of being kind ⚽️❤️⚽️❤️Enjoy your games everyone ...
