Club announcement...
THE BIGGEST ANNOUNCEMENT IN THE HISTORY OF METHLEY UNITED AFC
The Pride of Methley is getting a new home
We are incredibly proud to announce that Methley United AFC has officially signed a long-term partnership with Castleford Rugby Union, securing the use of the Pinfold Lane playing fields from August.
This is a huge step forward for our club — and an important one for the whole community.
Our recent member survey told us clearly that more pitches and better facilities in Methley were a priority. We listened, and this partnership goes a long way towards answering that.
Pinfold Lane gives us access to:
- More playing space
- Floodlights
- Toilets and running water
- Electricity
- Kitchen facilities
- Storage
There is work to do to improve the site over time, but the potential is enormous.
The blue area shows the land secured from August through our partnership.
The red area represents exciting longer-term opportunities we hope to explore as our vision develops.
We know an opportunity like this comes with responsibility. We are committed to working closely with local residents, Castleford Rugby Union, the FA and the council to make sure Pinfold Lane becomes a positive addition to the village.
To every volunteer, coach, player, parent, sponsor and supporter who has helped build this club — this is your achievement too.
More pitches. Better facilities. More football in Methley.
The next chapter starts now.

⚽️ Methley U8 Strikers – Match Report ⚽️![]()
![]()
Another super performance from the boys this week in a game that had a bit of everything! 👏⚽️![]()
![]()
We had individual brilliance, goal-line clearances, superb passing and plenty of determination on display, with the boys once again giving everything for each other from start to finish. 💪![]()
![]()
The boys are continuing to prove themselves week after week, putting in some class performances and showing just how much they are developing as a team. The improvement is brilliant to see, and they should all be incredibly proud of themselves. ❤️🖤![]()
![]()
And this week’s teamwork was perfectly summed up by the parents’ Player of the Match votes… every single parent picked a different player! 😂👏![]()
![]()
Usually we’re trying to decide who deserves the award, but this week the boys made it absolutely impossible to pick just one individual player — which says everything about how well they worked together.![]()
![]()
⭐️ Coaches’ Player – Jacob ⭐️![]()
![]()
Jacob was brilliant this week, using some fantastic dribbling to take players on and causing the opposition plenty of problems throughout the game. He was confident on the ball and always looking to make things happen. 👏⚽️![]()
![]()
Another brilliant performance from the Strikers. The boys just keep getting better, and watching them grow in confidence and ability every week is an absolute pleasure. ❤️🖤![]()
![]()
Same team, same madness, different weekend… 😎⚽️
Methley United U14 boys faced old friends and rivals Altofts Juniors Saturday morning for hopefully another competitive match. The sun was shining with fresh dew still on the pitch, they were great conditions for football. It was brilliant to see that Methley’s performance was just as good. ![]()
![]()
From the very first whistle the Methley lads were at full speed, moving the ball around, keeping possession and dominating play. They created chance after chance but couldn’t get the ball in the net, with the Altofts keeper busy but not really tested. It wasn’t until the 25th minute that the deadlock was broken, with a beautiful corner from Luca swept into the net from close range by Jake. The intentisity saw a slight dip from Methley after the goal but they went into half time the better team.![]()
![]()
The second half started as the first finished and Methley were playing some really nice football. Defence was strong and composed, midfield controlled the game and the forwards were constantly pulling opposition players all over and creating chances galore. After 5 minutes another dangerous corner from Luca saw an unfortunate Altofts player deflect the ball into his own net. Methley pressed their advantage and went on to score 2 more goals from Corey and Roscoe. A late penalty converted by Luca sore Methley finish 5-0 winners.![]()
![]()
That’s 3 wins from 3 for Methley, with 0 goals conceded.![]()
![]()
Opposition player of the match was given to Noah F for a commanding performance at the back, not allowing Altofts a sniff. Coaches player was won by Noah H, who controlled the game from midfield and who’s work rate off the ball is something to behold.
As a club we have talked about the deterioration in the behaviour in grassroots football and as a club we have asked all coaches, parents and players to set an example, stand out from the crowd and ensure, however others behave we do things the right way every time. We enjoy the games and we show respect on the sidelines and on the pitch.![]()
![]()
It delights me that again one of our teams have received some really positive feedback from a Garforth League - Football League representative who was watching the Tornadoes games today.![]()
![]()
It’s been a great start to the season for both our U7s Tornadoes and Hurricanes. Players, coaches and parents but above all this feedback is just brilliant. Thank you all ❤️⚽️❤️
U9 League Plate!![]()
![]()
It’s was a sunny Sunday morning in Adel for the Vipers this morning in the first match of the U10 League Plate! ![]()
![]()
The game started quick and both teams got stuck in. We started with some quick passing taking what the boys are learning in training and using it to full effect. During the first half, it was back and forth with some really great play from both teams. Goals from Oscar and Henry were scored.![]()
![]()
The second half started well with a great goal from Jack but an injury to Jack and changes on the pitch affected the flow of the game. on. There was plenty of great play, tackles, and the boys played well but the challenges meant we saw the game finishing 5-3 to Horsforth Pythons.![]()
![]()
We push onto next week and the next cup match against Horsforth Cobras!![]()
![]()
Goal scorers![]()
Oscar![]()
Henry![]()
Jack![]()
![]()
Opposition Player of the Match went to Finley, his first since joining us! He played brilliantly, getting stuck in and doing everything asked of him.![]()
![]()
Coaches Player of the Match went to Oscar who was all over the pitch got an assist and a goal. We aren’t sure if there was a position other than Goalkeeper he wasn’t covering at some point!!![]()
![]()
Well played both Vipers and Pythons!
⚽️ Methley Tigers U12s 13–1 Ossett U12s![]()
![]()
It was always going to be a difficult game to properly assess with Ossett arriving with just eight players, but credit to them — they worked incredibly hard, battled throughout and never stopped trying to play for each other despite being up against it numerically.![]()
![]()
From a Methley perspective, it was an efficient performance, with the Tigers running out 13–1 winners.![]()
![]()
We moved the ball around really well at times and, importantly, everyone got involved in the game. There were some good passages of football, plenty of attacking play and some excellent contributions across the team.![]()
![]()
Credit also has to go to the Ossett goalkeeper, who made a number of really good saves and prevented the scoreline from being even higher. Despite the circumstances, he continued to give everything for his team.![]()
![]()
The reality is that games like this can be difficult to read too much into with them only having eight players available, the game was always going to be heavily influenced by those circumstances. It wasn't the sort of match where we could draw too many conclusions about where we are as a team.![]()
![]()
That said, the boys can only play what's in front of them, and they did their job professionally. They kept working, moved the ball well and took their chances.![]()

🌟🌟Parent Spotlight 🌟🌟![]()
![]()
We all know that as parents and supporters of footballers, we are willing to go above and beyond to nurture a love of the greatest game for our kids. But we have to make a shout out to one parent in particular who is truly going ABOVE AND BEYOND! ![]()
![]()
Ste is proud Dad to Thunder’s (U9s) Captain Polly. He has set himself the challenge of running to every match the girls play this season - home AND away 😮 ![]()
![]()
So far, since the start of the season, Ste has run 7️⃣3️⃣ miles to their games. This includes today’s fixture all the way over in Bradford, which was a 21miler and over 1,000 ft elevation! Overall, he has run over 800 miles this year, many of those in training for this challenge! ![]()
![]()
We don’t often shout out our parents, but we had to let you know about Ste and how his amazing generosity will support the Thunder girls when they move through to the U10s next season. ![]()
![]()
If you want to show your support, please click the link below in the comments - any amount is appreciated and gratefully received. We want kit our girls out with everything they need for their U10s journey and Ste is going to help with this massively. ![]()
![]()
Thank you Ste, for truly being an inspiration to the team. ![]()

🔥 WHAT A PERFORMANCE! 🔥![]()
![]()
A brilliant 4–1 win today against a strong and very physical Bradford City Ambers side. ❤️🖤![]()
![]()
The girls battled for everything, kept going and, most importantly, kept showing up for each other from the first whistle to the last. By the end, they were thoroughly deserving winners.![]()
![]()
One of the most pleasing things was seeing so much of what we’ve been focusing on in training coming through in the game. That’s exactly the progress we want to see.![]()
![]()
Every single girl played her part today. A proper team performance from start to finish and a result they should all be really proud of. 🦁![]()

⭐️ U11 Panthers match report from Coach Chris ![]()
![]()
Another storming game for the u11s Panthers in the sunshine this morning at Wakefield City! Kicking down the steep hill first half, the Panthers dominated the game and were rewarded with goals from Elle with a great attack the ball hit from a corner, a well taken penalty from Alice after a handball and a lovely controlled finish from Aurora. The second half uphill was a completely different kettle of fish with a real backs to the wall performance, defending and clearing as well as they ever have as a unit. This season the girls have really found their ‘working as a team’ mojo. The casing point for the team ethic they have developed was shown today towards the end of the game when Wakefield were awarded a free kick in the area for a back pass and the collective desire to keep the ball out of the goal was followed by a roar from the parents, players and coaches like we had won the World Cup - side before self! ![]()
![]()
Penny won the opposition award for a strong performance in goal including a great tip over the bar to save a certain goal. Ruby won the parents’ award for an all action display and showing some real Ruby-style grit and determination and Grace won the coaches’ award for a magnificent passing and defensive display marking, in our view, her most confident display for the Panthers. Well done girls, have a rest and a great weekend! ❤️🖤
U8 sharks enjoying there first winter training evening ! All the kids are smashing & really enjoying learning the game !!
On Sunday our Mini Lions (u5s - F2 children/children who started full time school in Sept ‘26 and u6s - Year 1 children) started back up on the fantastic 3g facility at the West Riding County FA in Woodlesford.![]()
![]()
We have over 40 children already registered so far and we have started with record breaking numbers in the u6s girls (year 1) group with 9 players already signed up 🙌🙌![]()
![]()
We are still looking for additional coaches in the mini lions setup, particular in the u6s boys and girls section.![]()
![]()
For the first session back we had lots of new players joining us, who did terrifically well following instructions, listening and showing some great skills and awareness of space already 👍![]()
![]()
It was a really lovely session and we’re all excited to see how far these amazing children can develop over the season.![]()
![]()
The feedback received was amazing so thank you to everyone that came down on Sunday and we look forward to seeing you all later in the week ⚽️🦁⚽️![]()

⚽️ Methley U8 Strikers – Match Report ⚽️![]()
![]()
Another amazing performance from the Strikers this morning, who are quite simply going from strength to strength. Today was our best performance of the season so far and what a game it was! 👏![]()
![]()
It was a competitive, end-to-end battle that could genuinely have gone either way, with every single one of the boys putting their bodies on the line and giving absolutely everything for the team. 💪![]()
![]()
There was some fantastic link-up play throughout, mixed with some real sparks of individual brilliance, which resulted in a couple of spectacular goals. ⚽️🔥![]()
![]()
The boys continue to improve every single week, and I can honestly say they are an absolute joy to coach. Not just because of the ability they have in abundance, but because of who they are as individuals and, more importantly, who they are as a team. ❤️🖤![]()
![]()
They work for each other, encourage each other and most importantly, they have fun doing what they love. That’s what grassroots football is all about. 👏![]()
![]()
🏆 Player Awards 🏆![]()
![]()
⭐️ Coaches’ Player – Jacob![]()
Jacob gave us real composure on the ball when we needed it and did a brilliant job of driving us up the pitch. A really mature performance today.![]()
![]()
⭐️ Parents’ Player – Finley![]()
It has been such a joy to see the improvement and confidence Finley has shown over the last few weeks. He was brilliant outfield today, but when he went in goal he turned into an absolute beast, stopping everything that came his way! 🧤🔥![]()
![]()
⭐️ Teammate of the Day – Seb![]()
Seb really focused on what we had worked on in training and it showed today. His positional play was spot on, continually covering back and doing the little things that make such a difference to the team. Brilliant work! 👏![]()
![]()
Another fantastic weekend for the Strikers. The improvement these boys are making every week is brilliant to watch — and we couldn’t be prouder of them all. ❤️🖤![]()
![]()
Same team, same madness, different weekend… 😎⚽️
⚽️ Methley Mavericks Match Report ⚽️![]()
![]()
The Mavericks had a free weekend from the league today and, rather than risk our partners finding out and suddenly expecting us to make a roast dinner, we thought it best to get a fixture in sharpish. 😂![]()
![]()
Luckily, newly formed Rothwell Ladies found themselves in exactly the same boat, with their original opposition unable to raise a team, so a friendly was arranged.![]()
![]()
The Mavericks arrived with just 8 players after a late illness, but Rothwell very kindly lent us a player each half to make sure we could get the game on. Absolute top class from them. 👏![]()
![]()
It was a great afternoon of football, with both teams playing in exactly the right spirit. We played some lovely football, got some much-needed minutes under our belts and took the opportunity to try out a few new positions.![]()
![]()
Including Leanne deciding she fancied a go in goal… despite the fact she wasn’t actually meant to be playing there anyway. 🤦♀️😂![]()
![]()
Things went particularly well until she gave away a penalty. 😬![]()
We’ll gloss over that bit.![]()
![]()
The Mavericks managed to find the net four times, with goals from:![]()
![]()
⚽️ Laura x2![]()
⚽️ Ange![]()
⚽️ Jemma![]()
![]()
As for the rest of the game, I’d love to give you a detailed tactical analysis… but unfortunately I was somewhat distracted at half time by the new sweet selection and, more importantly, trying to work out where exactly in Aldi I need to go in future to locate them.![]()
![]()
For anyone interested, they were Peach Flavour Sour Patch Kids. 🍑😂![]()
![]()
Priorities.![]()
![]()
All jokes aside, it was a really enjoyable afternoon with two teams getting some valuable game time and, more importantly, plenty of opportunity to gel, try things out and enjoy playing football.![]()
![]()
A massive thank you to Rothwell Ladies for the game, for lending us players and for being absolute quality throughout. We’ll definitely take that sort of afternoon again!![]()
![]()
Most importantly…![]()
![]()
A lovely time was had by all. ❤️⚽️![]()
![]()
Now, if anyone knows where the peach Sour Patch Kids are hiding in Aldi, answers on a postcard. 👀🍑
U10 MATCH REPORT ⚽🐍![]()
![]()
Methley Utd Vipers vs Rothwell Jnrs Blacks![]()
![]()
Our Vipers started the game a little slowly today, with things not quite connecting in the way they have over the last few weeks. We struggled to find our rhythm early on, but the boys continued to work hard and battle throughout.![]()
![]()
The second half saw us come back into the game a lot more. The boys kept pushing, kept working and showed plenty of determination right through to the final whistle. 💪🐍![]()
![]()
Jack was a constant threat down the right-hand side, using his pace and fight to drive up and down the wing and give us an attacking outlet throughout the game. ⚡🐍![]()
![]()
Joel was kept busy in goal and made a number of important saves throughout the game, but his finest moment came right towards the end.![]()
![]()
A deflection off one of our defenders sent the ball looping towards goal, but Joel reacted brilliantly, raced back and somehow managed to clear it off the line just in time! 🧤🔥![]()
![]()
A fantastic piece of goalkeeping and a moment that showed the fight and determination running through the team.![]()
![]()
The boys kept going right until the end, and that effort and togetherness is something we’ll continue to build on as we move forward.![]()
![]()
🏆 PLAYERS OF THE MATCH 🏆![]()

U11s Whites hosted Stanningley at Castleford Academy this morning and put on a fantastic display. They all worked so hard for the team with desire and skill on display throughout. The passing and teamwork was superb which was the best part of today's performance. Riley was on fire in goal, especially first half with the save of the season diving across the goal to tip the ball round the post. The defence of Alex, Joshua, Ethan and James was strong battling for every ball and making the right decisions playing the ball out. Zach, jesse and Harry were composed in their play, playing some brilliant balls through midfield. Special mention to Zach for the pass of the game first half to set up Aaron's goal. Carter linked up well with the forward players creating chances and was unlucky not to score. The wingers, joe, Thomas and Aaron were awesome with the runs forward and passing between them creating numerous chances and linking up brilliantly with Harry 2nd half. Hatrick for Thomas but he also assisted most of the goals. Impressive passing from joe throughout looking very composed on the ball. Aaron's work rate and crossing was fantastic and 2 brilliantly taken goals. Brilliant striker's performance from Harry with great positioning play, always in the right place resulting in 4 goals for him today. Teammate of the week to Thomas chosen by the team, player of the match to Harry for some extremely well taken goals and all round play and captain to Joshua for his bravery in defence chasing down every ball and some great clearances out of defence.
It’s cup weekend for the U11 Panthers who made the short trip to play Rothwell Town Reds in the sunshine this morning. ![]()
![]()
A full squad of energetic Panthers were ready and waiting, loving their energy this season. There was lots to do against a team who came to play. The Methley work ethic impressed in a tight opening quarter, and although punished for switching off in one quarter, it was brilliant to see the girls work hard and finish strong. ![]()
![]()
Bethany and Aurora were unlucky not to make the scoresheet with great strikes hitting the bar and the post, lots of ooohs from the crowd! ![]()
![]()
Shout out to Grace today for her excellent defending, anticipating where she was needed and countless calm passes away from danger 👏![]()
![]()
Well done Panthers, and see you next Saturday! ❤️🖤❤️![]()
