Code of conduct

At Methley United, we believe football should be accessible to everyone, and our goal is to create a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment for all players. We want every child to enjoy the beautiful game, have fun, and learn valuable life skills along the way.

We ask each player, parent, guardian and coach to agree to the FA Grassroots code of conduct when they join the club, ensuring that everyone adheres to our shared values and standards.

Safeguarding and child welfare

The safety and well-being of all our members, particularly children and vulnerable adults, are of the utmost importance. We are committed to providing a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for everyone involved in our club. In line with The FA Safeguarding Policy, we ensure that all coaches, staff, and volunteers receive the necessary training and adhere to strict codes of conduct to protect all individuals from harm.

We promote best practices for safeguarding, which include clear reporting procedures, regular risk assessments, and ongoing education to foster a safe sporting experience for all.

Our safeguarding approach is built on respect, transparency, and a zero-tolerance policy towards abuse or neglect. This commitment is integral to the values of Methley United AFC, and we encourage anyone who has concerns to speak out, confident that their voice will be heard and acted upon swiftly and appropriately.

how to report a concern

If you are a parent, guardian, player, coach or other member of the club and see or experience anything at a match, training session or club activity that concerns you, please report it to us as soon as possible. This includes concerns about the welfare or safety of children, or inappropriate or misconduct by club officials, coaches, volunteers, spectators or anyone associated with the club — including individuals from opposition teams. Please use our Contact Us form and select “Report a welfare or conduct concern”. Your concern will be sent directly to our Child Welfare Officers, who will treat all reports sensitively and promptly, and advise you of the appropriate next steps where required.
